Zoe's POV

I don't think I've ever seen someone who looks as unhappy as the girl standing in front of me.

I couldn't see why she was unhappy. Her hair was long, blonde, and straight. She had perfect skin, even with only small traces of makeup. I could feel her shocking green eyes on me, so I looked away from her. That was when I caught sight of her to-die-for Louis Vuitton bags lying on the couch.

It was official. I was insanely jealous of this girl.

After what seemed like an eternity, Milla was the one that finally broke the ice between us, at least somewhat.

"Hi! I'm Camilla." She extended her hand toward the girl, who just stared at it like it was a bug. Camilla slowly retracted her hand, and I watched her smile fall.

"I'm Kaylee."

More awkward silence. I was going crazy just standing here. We had to say something.

"It's nice to meet you, Kaylee! I'm Zoe, this is Leah, and you just met Camilla. Do you want something to drink?" I sat down on the sofa, moving her bags onto the floor.

"No."

Her expression remained emotionless as she leaned back into the easy chair across the room, crossing her legs neatly.

"Well I'm going to make some coffee for myself, and if you change your mind, just let me know." With that, I walked into the kitchen, turning my back against Kaylee, and Leah and Milla who were sitting on the couch. I focused on my drink instead of the thoughts bouncing around inside my head.

Zoe, you're being ridiculous. She's just a girl. Maybe she's just nervous and shy.

When I turned back around, holding my coffee, the girl was gone. Leah and Milla were still sitting on the couch, slightly scared expressions on their faces.

"Where'd she go?" I questioned.

"She just got up. And left." Leah said with an annoyed expression on her face. "It's not like we weren't nice to her! How dare she-"

"Leah. Calm down. My room, now. She might hear us."

With that the three of us got up and walked down the hall, heading toward my room. When we got in, we all sat on my bed cross-legged.

"Why is she acting this way?" Milla asked.

Leah became the voice of reason. "Guys, we don't know what she's been through. We should give her a chance at least. How about we go find her and tell her that we want to get to know her and be friends."

We nodded in agreement and hopped off my bed.

***

I knocked on the door across the hall from my room.

The doorknob turned and Kaylee opened the door. There was makeup running down her face, and it was obvious that she had been crying. She quickly tried to compose herself, wiping the black smears off of her cheeks.

Leah spoke up.

"Hi Kaylee. The other girls and I really want to get to know you and be friends. What do you say to just having a talk and learning about each other?"

She didn't look super enthusiastic, but she nodded and I saw a flash of friendliness in her eyes. As soon as it had appeared, it left, and her face returned to the emotionless mask she had worn earlier.

We all sat down on the floor in a circle, and Camilla started.

"Hi. My name is Camilla Carter. I'm from Georgia, and I love online shopping. I always get made fun of because of my accent. Um... I like cats?"

Leah and I laughed, and then I started talking.

"My name is Zoe Parker. I'm from New York, and I've lived in Manhattan for my entire life. I love Pinterest and making random crap to fill up my room. I used to dance before I came here and that took up most of my time, besides reading."

"I'm Leah Stevenson. I grew up in Fayetteville, North Carolina. I've ridden horses almost all my life, and I love fashion. I had two dogs before I left... I love eating... and I read all the time. My family used to come to Disney almost every year, so when I learned about DCP, I jumped at the chance!"

Now it's Kaylee's turn. I had no idea what she would say.

"I'm Kaylee Jensen. I like to surf. I only came here because the farther away I get from California, the better."

I wasn't sure why she would say that, because it was obvious that her parents supported her, judging by her wardrobe. Deciding to just let it go, I smiled and tried to keep the conversation moving.

"Well, I read in my handbook that the orientation meeting is in half an hour... Should we get going?" Leah suggested.

We all nodded and got up off of the floor, heading for the door. I noticed that Camilla stopped to check her reflection in the mirror on our way out, and she was smiling from ear to ear. I would have to ask her about that later. I locked the door to our room and stuck the key in my purse.

I was a little apprehensive about the orientation. This is when we would find out where we would be working for the year, and I desperately hoped that I wasn't going to get stuck standing on the sidewalk pointing families towards the nearest bathroom.

I stepped into the elevator with the three other girls and it jolted into motion, bringing us down to the lobby of our dorm building, Vista Way. The doors opened up and revealed a lobby of bustling people, young and old. The four of us successfully made our way through the maze of people and furniture and started walking down the sidewalk to the meeting hall. There was a large lake in the middle of the area, with classroom buildings and dorm halls arranged around it.

After walking almost halfway around the somewhat-circular lake in comfortable silence, we reached the meeting hall and walked inside and tried to find four seats in a row that weren't super far away from the stage where the Dean of Students would stand and give her speech. We finally found good seats, and sat down.

I leaned toward Leah, who was sitting beside me. "Do you think that she's going to be really strict and scary? What job do you think we're going to get? Who are we going to be-"

Leah cut me off.

"Zoe. We're going to be fine. Chill! I'm sure that everything will work out."

"I guess you're right. I'm just super nervous." I responded.

Sensing someone beside us, I turned my head to see a guy. A really attractive guy, staring right at Leah. I elbowed her in the ribs and she quickly turned around.

The guy's face broke into a friendly smile, and Leah smiled back up at him.

"Is anyone sitting here?" He gestured to the seat next to Leah.

"Nope! Go ahead." She responded brightly, and he took a seat.

"I'm Chase, by the way. And you are....?"

"Leah." She replied with a smile on her face.

I looked up to the stage and saw the Dean walking up to her podium. Instantly the crowd of students became hushed. You could cut the tension in the air with a knife as she smoothed down her hair and set her papers down on the podium.

"Hello, I'm Jill Masterson, and welcome to your first year in the Walt Disney World College Program!"

_____________________________________________________________________________

Hey guys! I'm so sorry that this has taken me so long to update. I've literally been working on this chapter all summer, trying to figure out the plot, characters, and so on. I've also spent some time editing the previous chapters, adding pictures, fixing mistakes, and that kind of stuff. Now that summer's over, I should have more motivation to write. I know that seems backwards, but in the summer I literally have no motivation to do anything. :P

Thanks for being so patient with me, and thanks for reminding me to keep working. Please spread the word about this story to your friends, family, whoever! I need all the reads, comments, and votes I can get. Thank you so much!

Love, Emma
