"Too much is work is bad for you. Everyone needs a little something to cheer them up once and awhile," Pete and Roy had told their partners. Jim and John were convinced, but didn't have a clue what Pete and Roy had up their sleeves.

Jim and Johnny accepted when they suggested to take a five mile hike through The San Gabriel Mountains. It didn't sound that bad; it actually sounded fun.

After five miles and about two hours of walking around rivers and waterfalls, climbing up and down and around boulders from the mountain, they stopped.

"Alright, we've arrived at our next stop," Pete commented, pointing ahead of them.

"For what?" Jim and John asked in unison.

"Oh, we're just gonna go bungee jumping," Pete casually explained, pointing to the bridge. A tall concrete bridge laid a path over the waves crashing across the rocks.

"What! No way! There's no way your gonna make me jump off that bridge!"

"Me neither! Let's go back!"

"Oh, so you think that's it?" asked Roy with a smile.

"We've only just started," Pete added with a laugh- an evil laugh.

What was that supposed to mean? What were they plotting? Maybe I'm exaggerating, and maybe not. Sometimes I just can't tell if Pete is joking or not, Jim wondered suspiciously but didn't say a word.

Johnny spoke up and asked the obvious question that they were both wondering. "Alright, what do you mean by that? What are you planning to do now?"

"Oh, just spend the night at the Whaley House," Pete said again casually. He couldn't help, but let out a little chuckle.

"The haunted house?! Now I think we've gone just a little too far," Jim said.

Then he found himself suddenly sitting up. Everything was pitch black. It was only a dream turning into a nightmare. I guess that's what you get for trying to get a good night's sleep. Wow! That sure was crazy.

When they had began their next shift, patrolling with Pete, it was silent and Jim could help but think of that insane dream last night. He just had to tell Pete.

"You know, I had a dream last night and you were in it," Jim said breaking the silence.

"Oh, really. What was it about?"

After telling Pete the whole thing, Pete laughed and said, "Wow! You and your crazy dreams."
