Chapter 6

I gently wiped my tears with the back of my hand and looked at Lucas.

"What are you talking about?" I asked him. Then it hit me . Lucas wanted to beat Clay up. Even back in high school, he was one to resolve pay backs with brawls. The last guy that messed with Lucas ended up in the hospital for a month with six broken ribs and fracture in his right elbow. Moral of the story , don't mess with the monster inside him, it can and will kill you.

" Are you crazy? You are not going to beat him up!" I hissed , trying not to be too loud as Ms Lawrence was giving instructions about our new midterm project.

" So you are just going to let him get away with this,?" Lucas said, turning to look at me with an appalled expression.

" No! But I don't need you to go and mess everything up even further by beating him up into a pulp." I snapped, rolling my eyes at him.

" I just wanted to help.." Lucas whispered and turned to face the front once more. I was shocked. I shook my head at my stupidity. The boy just wanted to help. It was actually sweet of him to actually go and kick Clay's ass just because he used me even when we're not technically friends. Guilt banged into my heart. I turned and placed my hand on his lap.

"Lucas, I'm sorry " I said softly. Lucas just grunted. I sighed and continued once more.

"I know you're just trying to help even when you don't have too. I didn't even listen to you when you told me Clay was bad news. For that I am really sorry. I just need to clear my head about this before acting on it. I don't want you to get into trouble for me. Besides, we just kinda started school," I finally finished.

He finally smiled which made me smile too. " Always a sweet talker, you do now that's a guy's job right?" He smirked. I playfully smacked his chest and we both burst into soft laughter. The way we used to all those years ago. Ms Lawrence snapped to our direction.

" Ng! Kaur! Keep it down and listen! " she barked. We sobered up but burst into tiny giggles whenever we looked at each other. Ms Lawrence always acquired the high pitched voice and really hilarious face when she's angry. Lucas kept imitating her behind her back which cracked me up. I stole glances at him when he was listening to Ms Lawrence only to find that Lucas had actually gotten better looking over the years. I guess his character did change for the better too. I just hope I wasn't wrong anymore. I am getting tired of getting the wrong guy all the time. Lucas, Ben and now Clay. Although , any thoughts of revenge went away at that moment. I guess it just wasn't worth the trouble. Then a sweet evil idea popped into my head. A revenge plan for that dweeb Clay who utterly deserved it right on his face. Other than a punch. Maybe I should let Lucas beat him up. No... Wouldn't be worth it. Besides, the evil plan was a better choice. It's going to make that idiot pee in his freaking pants. A devious smile formed on my face. Sure my heart was still aching but there was no point being too upset over a jerk like him. I realized that it was just infatuation because if it was love, my heart would torn apart right now instead of just mildly aching and getting over it so fast. The bell rang, signaling the end of the day. I grabbed my bag and rushed to Lucas's side just as he was about to leave the lab. He raised an eyebrow when I pulled him to a corner and waited for everybody to leave not without having Ms Lawrence giving us one last glare. And of course trying to avoid the tingles I was feeling from touching Lucas's arm. Yes, I am going to say it again. What the hell. At last, when everybody was out, I peered out the door to see the douche Clay waiting for me outside the hallway.

" At least now can you tell me the reason why you are holding me hostage in this lab or do I have get it out of you?" Lucas spoke. My head snapped in his direction and I gave him an vice smile.
