Electrostatic currents,
running through microchips,
dancing in wires
powering my laptop,
enabling facebook,
and that message
you send that says
I
love
you
with a time stamp reading 5:22
and I reply 30 seconds later
with
I
love
you too.
simple and sweet
but those
Electrostatic currents
cannot show what i mean.
When I say
I
love
you,
I’m ricocheting
off of anything accessible
off the mirrors
in which i see your reflection
off the alarm clock
that stops the dreams of you and me
off the pen on the night table
that scribbles journal entries about your cheek bones
off the box of crayons
that as a kid illustrated my version of love
Which is monumental
like a father’s smile
or a mother’s home-cooked meal
like our song
and our long lasting phone call
like all the words i could have easily condensed to
I
love
you...
like the sounds of trumpets announcing
a prince
or princess
I am
like the lace wrapped wounds to your soul
like the 14 girls who-
when faced with you-
swoon so hard its crazy
I am just a little hazy
when i approach my thoughts
with a tentative walk
down the steep incline road
to my reservoir of feelings that
swirl in a vat of insecurities
and bubble and steam
until the dam breaks
when i send you a message a 6:02
saying
It is
hard to live
without you.
