*This chapter has been republished and is right again! Let me know what you think! Can you relate to Ena? Do you have the tendencies where you keep your walls up and don't want to let people in, but you can feel yourself breaking?*

Ena had never been good at keeping the right company. Troublemakers always seemed to rush her way anytime she would walk into a place. She was finally getting better at spotting the jerks, but every now and again, she would still let one get past her.

Ena had been single for a while, until one day a family friend had come to her saying that he had been crushing on her for years now. At 24, it wasn't unusual that people were crushing on her. She just hadn't wanted anyone for a while.

She had been looking at getting back into the dating scene and wasn't sure what she should do with the information from the friend. When Weyman talked about her the way he did, it made the butterflies fly, and she wanted to give him a chance. She wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not, but it was worth a try.

Ena looked up and down the rows trying to spot Weyman. He had gotten their seats saved in the movie theater while Ena fixed the popcorn. It was more of a formality, than what Weyman actually wanted. He wasn't a popcorn lover; one of the few odd ones.

He knew Ena liked it from all the home movies they had watched and she always asked about popcorn. Weyman was slightly shorter than Ena, but at 5'8', it was slightly unusual for a male to be shorter than her, but every single female she hung out with was way shorter than she was.

The thing about being tall was that your short friends start to use you, for their advantage, and not so much because they actually want you to be around them.

Feeling unwanted wasn't anything really new for Ena, but she tried every day to put the past behind her. Most days, she could bear the guilt and others, it overtook her and she would stay in bed all day with tears running down her face. If she tried to eat, she couldn't keep it down and would end up hurting her throat worse.

Ena wasn't what you would think of as sickly. She kept her body in a physically appealing state, but mentally she was a fractured soul. No one knew, and if they did, she became a burden that others didn't want to handle.

It's why Ena hadn't told Weyman about it yet. He would find out soon enough, and then the truth would be found out, or she would be quick enough to come up with a bad lie. Weyman had things handed to him so he really hadn't questioned things in the past. Ena had little given and more taken. She questioned everything; a person's motives, their beliefs, their attitude, their clothes, and even their genetics.

Ena finally spotted the perfect golden blonde hair of Weyman. His hair was this gorgeous color that she had only seen on the boxes, which never turned out just right on any other consumer using the product. Damn, false advertisement and no one with the guts to sue them!

As Ena sat down next to him, he lifted the armrest between them so she could relax in his arm, which he had draped around her shoulders.

Ena whispered, "What are you doing? You know that we haven't been dating enough for you to be this physical with me. I stated I couldn't rush into anything this time."

"I know. I'm sorry. I don't mean to be overly touchy." He pulled his arm away and sat leaning the opposite way.

Ena could see the hurt that had slapped him across the face. There wasn't anything she could say. The words had left her mouth; the damage was done. All she could do was wait for him to come back around and offer the drink.
