Alex

"I don't feel so good." I just finished curling my hair, Everett narrowed his eyes at me. He sat on my bed waiting for me to finish and was busy playing a game on his phone.

"Nah ah ,no telling me you're feeling sick when I told you this was a bad idea." He emphasized the latter part and peered back down to his game. Let out a deep sigh and stood up ,straightening my figure fitting gown.

He looked at me as I turned from side to side ,making sure it looks good enough.

Everett eyed me,he shrugged his shoulders and put his phone back into his pocket.

"Are you done yet?" I glared at him because it's the 5th time he's asked me that.

"I'm done when I'm done, why don't you try fitting into a corset when you have a bit of sideboob that wasn't accounted for." He looked at me for a moment and then burst out laughing .

"Side boob?" I scrunched up my nose

"You know, the side of a boob." I stated plainly, believe it or not this was a rather normal conversation between us.

"I hate this event so much." I grunted and grabbed my clutch. Everett shrugged and followed me out of my apartment forgetting about the sideboob, he specially borrowed a sportscar from his friend.I wish I had a friend with a sports car.

As we drove to the fundraiser, we kept quiet. I felt sick to my stomach and Everett had things on his mind, things he didn't want to talk about it, he was still so hurt because of Nina. We stopped at the large building, it reminded me of a renaissance castle. In front of the entrance there was a big water feature that was lit up in different colours.

Everett helped me out and took my hand in his; I slid my arm into his as we walked in. I smiled at a few people that were familiar and greeted them, my fake smile was very well practised. I felt my fever rising, if there was toast a feet away from me it would be burnt by now. Everett looked at me apprehensively but didn't say anything.

I kept my pose walking over to my parents, they greeted me each with a hug and made light chit chat , Daniel came up to me and grinned.

"Alex, you clean up nicely." I rolled my eyes at him.

"Yeah, jeans and sneakers are frowned upon when rich and snooty." Daniel shook his head as he chuckled .

"Hey Everett , so you're stuck with my pain in the ass of a sister?" I hit him on the shoulder, harder than I should've.

"Excuse me but I'm not suck a fu-" Everett slapped his hand over my mouth ,with a disapproving frown.

"The fever's talking." Daniel looked at us as we exchanged looks, he didn't remark on it but if he was standing in front of me he'd feel the heat radiating off me, you could see the heatwaves in the air. I had about 30 minutes left from the hour I promised to be there, I didn't want to admit it but Everett was right. Daniel walked away abruptly and then came back with another guy who I didn't know trailing behind him the look they shared told me that he wasn't just an acquaintance

He wore a bright smile, an in love smile.

"This is Thomas Day." He greeted us . They talked and laughed and soon enough retreated to a corner and sneakily made their way out of ballroom, mmh I know exactly what they are up to.

I felt my stomach churn some more.

Everett cocked his head to the side studying me.

"I need to get you home, or to a hospital because you just got a whiter shade of white... and it's scaring me." I shook my head, I promised myself I'd make an hour so I'll make an hour. He's being overdramatic, it's just some stomach bug going around.
