Chapter 16: Confrontation

Kendall's POV

"Kendall?"

"Josh?" My mouth swung open. He saw my scar; he knew I lied.

"Guess granny left." He rolled his eyes.

"She did and we decided to go to the beach. Why are you here?" I lied and snapped back. His hair was all messed up from the waves and his eyes all sad, but somehow it still looked good.

"I'm sorry Kendall. I'm here because..." he ripped off some fake skin, leaving me in awe. He wore fake skin to cover a big bloody scar across his face. He was... just like me.

"Josh..."

"Kendall..."

"I've never showed anyone but my family before," we said in unison. We chuckled a little, then got all serious and stared deeply into each other's eyes. He bent down on one knee,

"Will you Kendall Vertes be my girlfriend?" I smiled embracing him in a huge hug.

"Of course silly," I laughed and he grinned.

"Kendall I knew about your scar because of Nia, and I've pictures how it would look. It suits you," he said. I didn't know what he meant by "it suits you," but since he smiled I was guessing it was a good sign.

"Why didn't you ever tell me you had a scar? What is it from?" I asked curiously. To be perfectly honest everything moved so fast that I needed a second to think.

"It's a story I'll save for another time,"

"Okay, but let's not keep secrets okay?"

"Okay,"

"What is this TFIOS?" It's not that I hate the movie, it was amazing until it got a bit out of control with all the quotes and merchandise that I just got sick of it.

"You hate TFIOS?!" Josh have the most big-eyed, goofy flabbergasted face you could imagine.

"Yeah I didn't know you were such a girl," I teased.

"I'm not a girl, I'm just sensitive and you're heartless!"

"Wow okay. I guess you cried too," I chuckled jokingly.

"There's nothing wrong with getting emotional sometimes," I laughed.

"Aww that's sweet that you're so caring, I just love teasing you." I smiled.

The whole time we were talking my family went back to the cave-thing and watching me. When I looked at my sisters, they were making smirking faces at me.

"Give me a second," I said running back to the cave to flick Ryleigh in the forehead. She was sitting down feet crossed when she didn't see me coming,

"Ow!" She cried.

"Stop making those faces!"

"I'm not giving you a look this is just my face!" She screamed back. She looked at Josh, "Whose that?" She queried raising her eyebrows up and down.

"Friend!" I replied way too rapidly and blunt, but luckily she bought it. When I turned around my other sister was making kissing noises.

"So mature," I rolled my eyes. My mom didn't talk much she kinda was just there. (An: Don't worry Kendall's mom I'm always just there!) "I got to go anyway," I added running back toward a Josh.

"Hey sorry about that,"

"How dare you lie to me!" Oh he must of found out that granny lie I told earlier.

"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to lie I didn't want to hurt your feelin..." He cut me off,

"You said one minute when you clearly took a total of 83 and a half seconds! We're off to a bad start! Wait what are you talking about?" His tone changed drastically throughout his sentences.

"The same thing you were! See we're so much alike!"

"Kendall K VERTES! I demand you answer my question,"

"Demand me? Who do you think you are?"

"Aww we're having our first fight," Josh gushed.

"Don't you girl out on me! You're not my mother you can't demand me to do things!"

"I don't see the big deal!" He yelled.

"Let's drop it for now I don't want to fight when this is suppose to be my big day," my voice softened.

"You're day? So now it's all about you?"

"No I didn't say that..."

"But you thought it. I'll see you in school Kendall," he walked away leaving me deserted. What a jerk! This is my day with my family who love me. You can call me selfish all you want but I need a day, once a year about me okay? The other 364 I need no attention like always, but today I'm me and I want to be known for... well me.

My mom asked me what was wrong, I said nothing like usual, and soon we went home because the azure sky and dark sand was no enjoyment with a spoiled mood. When I checked my phone there was a surprise text from a person I'd never expect to hear from again, it was from...

An: Hey! Yesterday was my birthday and I'm just still so excited from it :)
