"Good morning Pittsburgh!" The morning announcements started up and Ron was talking, "Today we will say goodbyes to some people we've grown close to, but it's not the end. We are like a family, but today two people want to show you guys something," I took a deep breath a Josh squeezed my hand. I had no makeup on and Josh and my scars were overt. I didn't think I could do this, but Josh nudged me and the whole school could now see my secret.I could sense they were gasping, in shock and all, but I didn't care. I decided to break the silence.
"Yes we both had accidents..." I took a deep breath, "... And my scar was done purposely by Paige, but that's not what this is about. It's about all those years I hid what was apart of me because I cared what others thought of me."
I looked at Josh and he added, "We both did."
"And that's why we're here on the last day, as a couple trying to tell you to not hid what you are I because you're afraid others will judge, and if they do, they're not your real friends. This mark shows when I was mauled, and because of this I am stronger. I hid a part of me that made me stronger and I regret it. I'm glad I found Josh because he makes me braver than I ever was," I spoke confidently.
"Where ever you go, don't hide you," Josh added.
"That's our middle school legacy what are you leaving behind?" I ended. The cameras stopped rolling, and we had a group hug with Josh, Ron and I. I couldn't believe we just did that. When we left the film room, people where lined up against the glass door cheering! They were actually cheering! There was a girl's hair extension in one hand that revealed her very short hair, there was another girl who had a wig in her hand, and it was Hannah. I had never known Hannah had cancer and I couldn't believe it. I known I started something amazing and I felt really good right now.
"Don't let society define you or who you become," that was the last thing I remember. I was so caught up at that moment that's all I could think about, until school was over and I went back home.
After graduation, which I barely even remember since all I could think about was the announcements and my date later, at six on the dot, Josh rang the doorbell with a dozen of roses in his hand. My mom saw this and smiled.
"Have fun you two!" She yelled from inside our small house when I left it. She waved and locked the door behind.
We walked to a decent place that was nearby since we had to walk. We sat down at a small booth and I smiled.
"You look lovely Kendall, as always of course," he smiled and I blushed.
"Now tell me why today?"
"Because today's a good day." When he said this I realized that it had started to drizzle and I sighed,
"Not anymore." He looked at me and chuckled,
"Don't judge a day by its weather you may be surprised on what it brings." Josh said all poetic like. It was my turn to chuckle,
"What are you modern days Shakespeare?" I teased.
"Very funny." Josh rejoinded and the waitress cam around shortly.
"What would you like?" The waitress was dressed in all blue with the logo of the restaurant in her apron. I never been to this place, but it seemed familiar.
"I'll have a burger with EXTRA fries," I replied smirking.
"You come to a decent place and you order a burger?"
"And fries Josh." I answered.
"EXTRA fries," he corrected.
The waitress looked uncomfortable, "Ok lovebird two what do you want?"
"I'll take the Halibut please," Josh answered making a face at me.
"Ok I'll be back with your orders."
"Make that t go please," Josh smiled at me and I looked at him perplexed.
"Josh what are you talking about?"
"You'll see."
The orders came briefly afterwards and Josh payed.
"Josh are you crazy? The food's going to get wet it's pouring now!" The little drizzle earlier had gotten much worse and now Josh decides it's a good idea to eat outside?
"Oh we're not eating," he grinned mischievously and I was getting annoyed. We walked past the door and he gave me his raincoat.
"Hey you knew it was going to rain?" I quiered.
"Yup."
"And so why did you bring me out here?" I asked.
"Because I wanted to do this." Then he kissed me in the rain. It was cliche but it was so unexpected for me. When it was over I had to ask him something,
"Was this your plan the whole time?" He nodded and then I kissed him.
"Aren't I a romantic?" I laughed when he said that.
"You know what?" I said when he was still holding me from the kiss before.
"What? Is it that I'm such a great kisser?"
"No you could use some work," I giggled, "... but I could too. What I was going to say is, now I know this relationship will last wherever we go," I smiled. I hugged him really tight and we walked back.
I saw him again a year later in the park. He told me he was transferring high schools because he couldn't get his mind off me. We've been dating again ever since.
