Kirstie tensed up. Panicked, she looked around the stadium. There were four more openings that were just like hers. She took deep breaths, trying to figure out what was going on. Crowds cheered around her as the announcer spoke again. Kirstie covered her ears.
"AAAAND FOR OUR NEXT CONTESTANT, WE HAVE MITCHELL GRASSI!"
Mitch?!?!? Kirstie thought, alarmed. Suddenly, one of the gates was put under a spotlight, and out stepped a terrified Mitch. He looked over at her, his eyes wide. She glanced back, equally terrified. She called to him, but he couldn't hear her over the chanting crowd. What? He mouthed, but Kirstie just shook her head. The announcer surprised her with his loud voice as he said, "OUR THIRD CONTESTANT THIS WEEK IS MR. SCOTT HOYING!!" Scott ran onto the platform, only to shrink back from the lights and loud chanting. Oh god...Kirstie thought, what's happening to us? Trying not to panic, she gave Scott an encouraging look. They had to get through this. Who knows what will happen if we don't? The announcer's voice boomed again.
"OUR FOURTH CONTESTANT IS KEVIN OUSLA!!" Wait, Kirstie thought, why are we here? How did we get here?
"AND FOR OUR FINAL CONTESTANT, WE HAVE AVRIEL KAPLAN!!" Kirstie's heart broke as Avi trudged onto the platform. He glanced over at her, reflecting how she felt.
Confused and scared. No, not scared, petrified.
"WELCOME TO 6 TRIALS!! IN THIS EVENT, THEY WILL HAVE TO FACE THEIR WORST FEARS, ONE BY ONE. HERE, ONLY THE STRONGEST SURVIVE."
Well, Kirstie thought, I'll probably be the first to go. Kirstie tried to hold back her tears, as the timer began counting down.
"WHEN THE TIMER HITS 0, THEY HAVE CHOOSE TO EITHER FIGHT EACH OTHER OR STICK TOGETHER. HOWEVER, ON THE FINAL CHALLENGE, EACH CONTESTANT WILL STAND ALONE." Looking around, Kirstie saw that everyone looked as scared as she was. We'll be safer in a group, she thought. She hoped the others felt the same way, otherwise, she was doomed.
