Chapter 4. Frosted Anomaly

Tesla: Eric...

Eric: what... Did you do to me...

Tesla: it's just a miscalculation in the test Eric...

Eric: miscalculation?! What if your little miscalculation caused someone's death?! I could've killed them!

DT: and yet you didn't... Because something was stopping you... Tesla... Get the neural scanners ready after we do the tests for this week and subject Eric to deep cryo stasis, set the dream scanner wave length to brain wave function... We need to know what we're dealing with...

Tesla: but I don't think Eric would...

Eric: I'm in...

Tesla: are you sure?

Eric: just get this thing over with...

For the next few hours, Tesla and DT worked tirelessly on the Cryogeddon experiment... Or what DT calls project "Frost Walker"... Day by day, my colleagues and I were subjected to multiple tests including physical assessments like environmental adaptability and resistance, strength, speed, stamina and most importantly, physical and mental response to the "Cryo" element...

Until the day finally came, when I was to be subjected to cryo stasis...

Eric: where are we going?

DT: to the place where it all started... Site 218..,

It was 6 hour flight by chopper... When we finally landed, I was escorted to a bunker... Where I met the leader of the tribe who owns the Meta Elementa( cryo, pyro, litho, electro elements etc..). Our entire conversation was stuff about their prophecies and all that... That my kind now has something to fulfil ... That I must not shun my duties from now onwards... All that aside, we tested my powers to see the length of my ability... It turns out, I'm able to maintain my powers the longest but it has a detrimental effect on my body... I need to use it sparingly or I may lose control and go insane or so they say...

But whatever... I'm only here to get stronger... Not to get nagged at by the locals... I was directed to the training field where 3 of my buddies were... Gerrik, Cole and Azero... They were given enhanced powers... I'm jelly... All I really wanted was to get stronger... Oh well... We drew our weapons... Azero drew out his estoc and his scimitar... Cole drew out his dual revolvers, Gerrik drew out a combat knife and his sniper rifle... I drew out my broadsword... The four of us prepared to battle... Gerrik, Azero and Cole powered up... Cryogenic ice crystals formed on their bodies... The blistering air felt colder... In the presence of four Cryomancers... I powered up as well... When the match started, we made a dash away from each other... As we ran, trails of ice exploded from the ground behind us, propelling us forward faster... I saw Gerrik... He had gone to one of the cliffs... Probably to snipe... I have to avoid his line of sight... I froze the suit on my body for a bit so that it looks white with ice.. I crawled along the ground towards the cliff where Gerrik was... I climbed the cliff from below trying to get to Gerrik's position...

Gerrik Ice Blight's POV

I took aim... Cole thought he could hide... One clean shot to the head will be enough to put him down... Too bad they didn't allow us to use real bullets... Haha... Don't tell Cole I said that... Anyways... I was about to pull the trigger, when I heard footsteps behind me... I turned around to see that Azero was about to strike me... I dodged but almost fell off the cliff.. I shot him on his leg but he ignores the pain and continues to rush me...

Eric Frost initiate's POV

I heard gunshots above me... It seems someone else has found Gerrik... I planted an ice bomb under the cliff and then dropped, defrosting the snow below me turning it to water and breaking my fall... I got up soaked to the bone and then triggered the explosion... I ran for cover and then waited... Someone may have heard that and may come to inspect... A perfect time to set up an ambush...
