The Frigid Way

Chapter 3. The History Of This Frost...

The battlefield was scorched but at the same time beyond frigid... Eric stood there... His head down... His face devoid of emotion... His every exhale a white misty cloud... All around him... Was blood... Splattered everywhere... Around him... Was an aura of cryogenic frost, a white frost... Ricky was bleeding out... His shoulder was badly damaged and he was shivering... Suddenly, his eyes light up a glowing blue for a few moments then they returned to their normal state... He passes out...
Evan on the other hand, managed to shield himself with a flame shield... But he too had been badly injured... Due to the strong gales, he had hit a wall and fractured his right arm... His hands blistering with frostbite and his legs numbed... Tesla managed to get Ricky, Evan and Eric out but Eric was placed in the observation room...

DT: let's just get Cole to handle the medical needs for these two...

Tesla: are you sure?

DT: he'll do fine... What you really need to be focusing on is what happened to Eric...

Tesla: you're right... What are you gonna do?

DT: what do you think? I still need to run the new tests based on the results from the battle on the Pyros... Are you coming?

Tesla: go on ahead... I still need to speak with Eric...

DT: if you say so... Oh yeah... Can you get Cole? Have him go to room next to Eric... Ricky and Evan still need help... Thanks...

Tesla always wears a mask... No one has ever seen his face... Or ever heard his true voice due to his voice changer... Except for a few friends
He went and found Cole who was a new recent test subject... Though new and inexperienced with his powers, he makes up by being very battle smart... His combat style an unorthodox threat to his enemies due to his unpredictable attacks... He was also trained in cryogenic treatment... It's somewhat an advantage of all Cryo test subjects... Their fast healing... Their resistance... And based on what Tesla had seen today, unpredictability...

Cole: so... Eric did this?

Tesla: I don't know... Evan.. Can you describe what had happened?

Evan: Everything was just pitch black... I-I don't know...

Ricky: I... I saw something...
On the battlefield, when he struck me with his frost, my body went numb... But something happened...
I saw... A.. Dream...

Tesla: a dream you say?

Ricky: the guy... Eric... I've been so harsh to him for such a long time... I didn't know that this happened to him... Heck... I don't even know if what I saw was real... I saw him... On a mountain... I don't know where... There was a strong blizzard... He fell to his knees... And then I heard a voice... It was as if it was coming from all directions... It said...

Bound to this Frost you shall be...
For only here, painful truth you'll see...
Flame is naive, it does not choose what to burn...
Hence Frost is left, awaiting true evil's return...
Flame can be guided, but yet, it's not eternal...
It will one day put out, and lose it's great potential...
Frost will be left when Flame dies out...
So ready yourself for the things to come about...
Destroy the evil to finish the race...
And a choice in time, you shall be placed...
But beware of the dangers, giving truths inversely...
If worst comes to worst, you must show no mercy...

Tesla knew those words... They were all too familiar... The element they got... The cryo element... They discovered it in an off grid part of the world... Extremely difficult to reach... There, they found a civilisation, though they could not discern whether or not these people were human... But their bodies were human-like... The locals there welcomed them and did some trade from information to valuable resources which includes the cryo and pyro elements... But they warned Tesla about the cryo element... Something about a prophecy they had... And now that Tesla has it, the locals said the prophecy will also take effect with them... Tesla is now starting to realise this is not just some superstition, but rather seemingly and slowly becoming a reality... And it all seemed to start with what Ricky saw in his vision...
