Introduction: Talking Life With Aly
Why is everything so difficult in life?
"Claire. Claire? Claire!" my best friend, Aly shouted.
"What, what did I miss? I'm listening!" I said, snapping out of my thoughts.
"What do you think? This shirt with the ruffles or this tank with the sequins?" Aly asked, brushing her dirty blonde hair out of her blue eyes.
Aly has been my friend since diapers. She's my age but three months younger.
"What for?" I asked.
"My date tonight! Remember? Snap out of it, girl!" she looked at me funny. "I need your extreme fashion sense."
I had always liked doing that kind of stuff and, of course, shopping. I figured out I really had a passion for it two years ago when Aly and I had went to a small fashion camp.
"Okay, okay. Do the sequin tank with your dark skinny jeans and your white Uggs. Then straiten your hair, put on a tad of mascara, and finish it off with your light lip gloss and you'll be irresistible!" I said.
"Thanks Clai! You're the best!" she smiled.
"Yeah, I kinda already knew that." I chuckled.
"Ha-ha." she said sarcastically.
"Dude, you really could make it big in the fashion world one day." Aly poked her head out the bathroom door.
"I can't draw and you know that." I said.
"Well you could make a rough draft and have a professional artist, like me, draw it for you." she stuck her head back in the bathroom.
"True, but I'm horrible at sewing." I said.
"Claire, honey, there are people to do that kind of stuff. All you have to do is oversee it all" she walked out and zipped up her jeans.
"Yes, but it's still really difficult to-" Aly cut me off.
"Claire, everything is difficult in life. If you pursue your dream, even if it is hard, that makes you ten times as tough."
I sighed.
"I'm still scared of what people will think of me if I do make it there."
"Clai, there are always going to be people out there who want to knock you down. Take the three snot buckets at school, you never let them get to you. Why anyone else? There are always people out there that love you and if you do make it big, there are people out there that will love your work! Now, I've gotta run or else I'm going to be late! Don't worry too much about it, okay? See ya!" she lectured.
"Bye, have fun!"
Don't worry too much? Too late.
I sighed and headed home.
