Chapter 14: Darkness Then Light, Thanks Chris

"I didn't get in." I whispered sadly, through the phone to Chris.

"Oh Babe, that's terrible." he said, sympathetically.

"What am I gonna do, Chris?"

"How about you try something else." he suggested.

"Like what?" I pouted.

"I don't know. You always said photography was your second passion." he said.

"Maybe, but I don't want to go back to the same school."

"Then check out some other schools. You have a laptop that works perfectly fine, you know." he teased.

I grinned.

"I know. I''ll check it out sometime."

"No. Not sometime. Do it now."

"Fine."

"So hang up." he said, urging me to end the phone call.

"Okay, okay. So pushy."

"Bye, Claire."

"Bye."

I ended the call and grabbed my laptop.

I opened up my Internet browser and typed in the search box. When I hit return, 14,400,000 results popped up. I clicked on the first one and scrolled through it's content.

About a half hour later I had only found one school that I might be interested in. And another that I thought would be perfect!

I called Chris and he answered almost immediately.

"What's up ladybug?" he answered.

"I found a school that I might really like!" I announced.

"That's great. Are you gonna go for it?" he said.

"I think so. I'm so excited!" I squealed.

He laughed.

"I'm glad to hear that. I'd apply right away if I were you."

"I'm about to hit enter to submit my form."

I clicked the button and squealed.

Chris chuckled.

"You get way too excited."

"Thank you, thank you very much."

"Your welcome, now I gotta go, mom's calling. She won't let me out of her sight for five seconds ever since we got home."

I giggled.

"Okay, I'll talk to you later."

I hung up.

"Chris, Chris, Chris! Guess what, guess what, guess what?" I practically yelled into the phone, at my boyfriend.

"What, what, what?"

"I got in, I got in, I got in!" I squealed.

"That's awesome, aren't you excited? You don't sound like it." he teased.

"Shut up. I just got an e-mail from the university, so I am flipping out."

He chuckled.

"Well, I'm happy for you. Can I not be happy for you?"

"Of course you can be happy for me. Isn't that what boyfriends are for?" I asked.

"Nope."

"Then what are they for?" I asked, raising an eyebrow even though he couldn't see me.

"They're not for anything. They're just for show, duh." he said.

"Oh that's right! I was getting boyfriends and family mixed up, oops." I said, sarcastically.

"Claire! There's someone at the door for you!" my mom, called.

"That's mom." I told Chris. "Gotta let you go but I'll talk to you later."

"Sure, see ya butterfly." he said, hanging up.

I threw my phone on the bed and jogged to the front door.

When I opened the door, I swear my jaw dropped to the ground.
