Chapter 5: Leaving

This summer we spent lots of times together since we were leaving for college soon.

And then the day came when I had to leave.

We were at the airport and I was bawling my eyes out.

My family, Aly, and Chris were there.

I hugged my parents and little brother.

They were all crying.

My little brother Zack was trying not to cry but there were tears falling from his eyes.

“I finally get your room!” Zack said trying to stay positive.

“I’ll get to paint blue over your purple walls!” he said.

I laughed.

“Are you sure Zacky? I think purple’s your color!” I laughed.

I hugged him tight.

I hugged my parents

“Don’t have too much fun!” my dad said.

“I won’t because you won’t be there, Daddy.” I said.

“We’ll see you soon, okay?” my mom asked.

“Soon.” I said.

“I love you.” she said.

“I love you too momma.” I hugged her.

I looked at Aly and new tears started forming in both of our eyes.

I hugged her tight.

“Make some friends that will keep you from missing me, okay?” she said.

“Oh Aly, no one can replace you! You have fun at your school and make some friends too, alright. When I get back we will have a major shop!” I said.

“Alright.” she said, wiping her eyes.

I hugged her again and pulled away and smiled. She smiled back at me.

I walked over to Chris.

“Come on let's leave them alone guys.” my mom said.

“Bye!” everyone said and waved.

“Bye, I love you. See you soon.” I waved back.

I looked at Chris.

He smiled.

I started crying all over again.

“Don’t cry. You’ll make me cry and I’ve held up good so far!” he said, pulling me into a hug.

“I’ll try to make it to some of your games.” I said into his chest.

“What if I don’t make the team?” he asked.

“I’ll still come to see you cheerlead.” I said.

He laughed. I laughed also.

I looked up at him.

“I’m going to miss you.” I said.

“I know, I’m going to miss you too. But we’ll make it work, okay?” he smiled.

“Okay.” I agreed.

The lady called for my flight over the intercom.

“That’s me.” I said sniffling.

He leaned down and kissed me. “Have fun.” he said.

“I will.” I smiled and started to walk away.

I turned back around and blew him a kiss.

He wiped his eyes and pretended to catch it and put in his pocket.

I didn’t look back again knowing I would start bawling again.

I boarded my plane and was on my way to New York.

When we lifted off the ground, I pulled out my phone and started going through my pictures.

There were pictures of my family, friends, pets, and of course Chris.

Then I came across of some new ones that Chris took of himself.

He made a video too, telling me how much he believed in me and I smiled.

I glanced over at the girl beside me and saw she was going through pictures too and crying.

She looked around my age.

She saw my glance and wiped her eyes.

“I’m sorry.” she said.

“It’s alright, I’m trying to hold back tears too. I’m heading to university in New York and I have to leave my family, friends, and boyfriend.” I smiled at her.

She tried smiling back.

“I am too and I was going through some of my pictures and I need to put them away or I am going to start crying harder and that won’t be good!” she said.

I tried switching the topic,

“So what school are you going to?” I asked.

“I’m going to the fashion university. I still can’t believe I got accepted!” she said drying her eyes.

“Really? Me too!” I squealed.

“Well I should introduce myself, I’m Danielle Janton.” she stuck her hand out.

“I’m Claire Aller.” I shook her hand.

For the rest of the ride we talked about ourselves.

And we meet Danielle! Yay!
