Chapter 27, secret revealed

*Niall pov*

I sat there paralyzed.  I can't tell her, she's already in so much pain.. I'm so stupid.. 

"Niall tell me.. She slowly grabbed my hand, I watched her hands and just stood there holding hers, I looked at her arms.. I saw little cuts.  I kept looking maybe thinking it was the lighting but I couldn't help myself, she knew I was looking.  Grace looked up at me and her eyes went wide as tears filled her eyes. 

"Grace no please this can't be happening..  Babe we were so happy before today why did this have to happen."  I whispered as a tear went down my face. 

"What do you mean before today.. Niall please tell me what you were gonna say."  She asked me. 

"Grace no matter what do you promise to listen to every single word I say and promise not to leave?"  I looked up at her and her grip on my hands went tighter.  "I promise Niall."  I put my head down in shame.  

"Grace, I wasn't with any of my friends today.. I was at an ex-girlfriends.."  Her eyes went wide, I could see the hurt in her eyes.  "No no Grace nothing major happened.. you see when I met you I was dating her.. the minute I saw you something was just telling me I have to talk to you.. So I "accidentally"  bumped into you.  When you looked at me it was love at first sight for me.  I didn't know how to tell Madison what happened between us.  When we finally stopped talking we texted all the time and Maddi got suspicious.  Eventually she secretly took my phone while I was in the shower one day.  She read all of our messages.  We got in a huge fight and she ended up hitting me and giving me bruises.. I refused to fight back I never will physically hurt a woman, she kicked me out of the house and I lived with the boys and that's finally when I asked you to be my girlfriend.."  I said quietly as I held her hand pulling her towards me.  

"Niall why didn't you tell me this?"  She asked me back in her sweet voice. 

 "I thought you wouldn't think of me the same.."  I said while a rested my chin on her head.  

"Well.. What happened today?"  She asked me confusingly.

"Don't be mad okay.. but I went over there.  When she kicked me out she only gave me my clothes and nothing else.  So the other day I asked if I could come over and explain what all happened and get my stuff back, she agreed but I didn't wanna tell you because I knew you would think I was going to cheat on you.  The only thing we did was talk, then we packed my stuff, and I gave her a hug and kiss on the cheek when I left, it was nothing romantic it's just polite Grace."  I lowered my head to kiss her forehead.  All she did was look up at me after.  Was she mad?  She gave me a blank look.. she didn't look terribly mad but then she didn't look happy either.  While I was looking at her she started to close her eyes.  She was fighting to keep them open but her tiredness was winning. 

When her eyes finally started to close I picked her arm up slowly, she had little cuts going from her forearm down to her wrist.  I caused her this, I made her harm herself because of my stupid reasons.. What did I do?  Why did I do it, or maybe it was Liam who caused her to hurt herself?  I'm such a dick why didn't I tell her..

While I sat here just thinking to my self she cuddled into me even more, I pulled up the blankets and turned off the lamp.  The candles were still lit but one by one they slowly went out.  Soon the room was dark, her arms were wrapped around me tight, all you could hear was our breathing.  My arms were wrapped around her as I lightly stroked her back.  I could feel her breathing against my chest.  

After awhile I slowly sat up and took off my shirt, when I laid back down she snuggled into me immediately.  Her hands went on my bare chest and her head was right under my chin Her warm body was giving off heat to my whole body, our legs were touching, and our hands were entwined.  I didn't wanna move, this moment was perfect.  There wasn't anymore tears, Natalie was sleeping so we got quietness, she was happy.. but the only thing was I wasn't.  It felt like something bad was going to happen... I think karma will be whooping my ass soon.
