I look at the ground, unsure what to say or do anymore with my powers and my new life. I am wanted criminal, hunted by a government assassin, and I couldn't save those people. I just don't see the point anymore. I look up to see them all looking at computers. I hold my bat I'm my right hand and I look at my hoodie to my left. I stand and grab it. I put it on and walk towards the back of the ware house. I get close to the door but get stopped by Peter.

"Hey man. Were you going?" he asks me and I turn to him with a fake smile.

"Just trying to find a place to sleep." I say and he nods giving me a look like he knows the feeling. He doesn't know how I feel. He didn't see the terror in the eyes of those people. He walks away and I see Paul walking around, acting like nothing happened. I clench the bat with anger. I see a back pack long enough to conceal the bat so I walk over and grab, put the bat in it and sling it over my back.

I walk out the front door and put on my hood to conceal my face. I walk down the street and look back to the warehouse to see if they are coming after me. They don't. Good. I need to do this alone. I continue to walk until I find a car I can use. I smash the window, setting off the alarm. I turn to a bystander.

"Call them." I say and he looks at me with fear. "Now!" I yell and see him type three digest and report the crime. I get in the car, hot wire it and take off. I see a red light up ahead and decide to take the opportunity to send a message. I take off my hood and look the camera. I know he will be watching. I see the cop cars chasing behind me. I punch the gas and race forward.

I keep them at a fair distance, until I hear a gun shot and my car swearves and flips from hitting another car at these speeds. The car lands upright and I slowly get out.I hold my bat in my hand and the cop cars swearve as they pull up. They all stay behind their doors and hold their guns up at me. They do anything. They don't move or talk, they just watch. Only one person makes a move in my direction, The Asset. Perfect.

"Well looks like you know how to send a message." he says his eyes look cynical and sarcastic. I keep a straight face, panting from being out of breath from my crash. He walks up close and I look him in the eyes. I see the fire in his eyes and he smiles from under the bandana. He comes close to my right ear. "Duck." he wispers and I do as he says covering my head, but still watching his actions. He waves out his right arm in a half circle, shooting a firey wave at the police officers. The wave made some cars flip and land upside down.

He walks towards a car that didn't flip and had a couple men still guarding it. He hits the first one, knocking him out. I see his hand get red hot, ready to kill next person he touches. He holds him with his left hand, off the ground. I run over and grab his hand be fire he could finish the movement. He looks my direction, fire still in his eyes. I shake my head No and the fire fades and his hand returns to normal he drops the man and he squirms. I take the bat and hit him on the head knocking him out, gaining The Assets trust.

He slides over the hood and gets in the driver's side and I enter the passenger side. He takes off, turning on the siren so we can get to the destination faster. He shoots through the streets. Go towards the warehouse and I start to get worried. He parks right in front of the large building and holds a gun to my head. My breathing becomes more rapid and heavy. I look towards him and the barrel of the gun.

"Why?"  he asks me without shifting even a little. I start to sweat from fear, but I keep my face drained of any emotion.

"I realized you are right." I say and he doesn't consider my answer.

"Why should I believe you?" he says.

"Why else would I have just done that. Why should I trust a wanted fugitive than someone fighting for my rights. You are the right choice. If you end me here then the pats your choice. Just know you lost another allie in a world where that is in short supply." I answer and he stares at me. He releases the load and puts the gun down. He pulls away from the warehouse and I shoot a box I dropped earlier through the door for them to find. I look at my phone and see the tracker is on. I smile until he looks I'm my general direction.

"I have to be honest, I didn't expect this." he says and I don't break my stare on the road.

"Well then you should be open to anything." I say and behind me an unmarked car follow us and I start to worrie. They are coming too earlie. "There's a car following us." intell him he looks at the rear view mirror and pulls out his gun.

"I got it." he says but I stop him.

"Just drive." I tell him and I look at the car. I hold my hand out, palm up. I shoot my hand up and the car flips and skids down the street then stops. He shoots around the corner before they can find us. I can see him smile. "What's your name?" I ask, more like a statement than a question.

"The Asset." he says.

"No, your real name." I say and he sits there focusing on the road. He doesn't answer for what feels like half a hour. He looks at me then back at the road. He is almost considering if I can be trusted that much.

"Josh." he says not breaking the stare. I look at him and he doesn't break his stare. We drive until we get under the golden gate bridge a little but away from the fort. He parks and we get out. There is one small metal door that is rounded at the top. He places his hand on the door and it unlocks.

We walk in and whatbi see amazes me. There are thousands of Metas living in peace here. Families, workers, a mini society. My jaw is slacked from the sight. I can't believe this is real. Josh slaps my back and walks ahead over me. He looks back to me.

"Welcome to the other side." He tells me and I follow him deeper into the void.
