In my dream, I was dancing. My dress was blue and I was twirling under the moon as shooting stars cascaded across the night sky. I was in pure bliss. I had no care in the world. My eyes were shut and there was an enormous grin on my face as I tilted my head back. I could see every planet in the Milky Way without a telescope. Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus; they were all there. The sight was one to behold and I was absolutely sure that this is what Heaven looked like for me. Was I dead? Impossible. Hallucinating? Couldn’t be. In a coma? Possibly.

The sharp pain that shot through my neck halted my dancing and as I closed my eyes, I opened them again to set them upon white. I was awake? I sat up and rubbed my eyes. This wasn’t my room. Nor did it look a normal room. It looked like a hospital room. My breath caught in my throat. I was kidnapped.

A feeling of fright coursed through my veins. I was going to die, I was certain. I would never see my family again. I shivered, then had the thought to check myself to see if I was still wearing clothes. My hand wandered my body. I let out a sigh of relief. Yes, I was wearing what I’d fallen asleep in.

I heard the doorknob to the room I was in jiggle and turn. My breathing hitched as I snapped my head up to meet the chocolate brown eyes of a brunette haired man.

He gaped at me and I at him. Though, his seemed more as if he was first laying eyes on a three headed unicorn. Would that make it a tricorn? The thought vanished from my mind when he finally spoke.

“Hi,” he whispered, exhaling his breath.

I continued to stare at him, unsure of if I was to respond.

He cocked his head to the side. “Can I… touch you?”

I blinked. “Huh?”

He grinned. “Just to see what you feel like.”

Utterly perplexed, I nodded. The man slowly reached his hand forward and touched his fingertips to my cheek.

“Wow,” he sighed. “You are so soft. And warm.”

I wondered for a moment why he was so intrigued and taken by my skin. I reached my own hand forward and let my fingers touch his cheek the way he had done me. As soon as I did, I gasped and jerked my hand back. He was so… cold.

“What’s wrong with you?” I whispered, looking into his eyes.

“Nothing.” He laughed.

It hit me.

“Where am I?”

His gorgeous smile fell.

“Matrix.” He whispered.

“Matrix?”

“Yes,” he replied, straightening up and staring down at me. “You are on the planet Matrix. With the Matrions.”

I gaped at him in shock. Was he crazy; out of his mind?

“I’m… on Earth.” I stated.

“No. Matrix. You are in a completely different galaxy, catalus.”

My eyes shot up to meet his. “What did you call me?”

 “Catalus.”

I raised an eyebrow. “You’re being serious, aren’t you?”

“Serious about what?”

“About me being on another planet.”

“Completely.”

I let out a shuddery sigh. “And who are you?”

He smiled again. “I think my name in your language is Karter.”
