Sorry about the late update. I wasn't able to update last week due to school and I have lots of hw now too but thankfully I had this chapter written during my free time. Hope you enjoy this chp too ^^
Chapter 4
That word rang through my head. I just stared at the chessboard. This couldn't be possible. No, this just can't be possible.
"(Y/N)? Are you okay? You look as if you're about to cry," Camus asked, sounding a bit concerned.
I looked at Camus and I couldn't believe the reaction I was getting from him. He radiated such a calm and victorious aura. How can this guy look so happy when he lost? And that's when I remembered the move he made before we got checkmated. While I was zoned out, he had moved our queen instead of the bishop. If the bishop had been moved we could've checkmated them. But no Camus moved the queen and then their knight took our queen, putting us at a checkmate. I couldn't believe it. All this time, Camus was hoping that Ren and Ai would win. This chess game was rigged in their favor and that's how they won.
"(Y/N). Please listen I had to do this." Camus pleaded.
"No! How could u do this to me! I trusted you!" I screamed at Camus, all teary eyed.
The look on his face was of pure fear. Oh that was such a nice face he made. I was mad at all 3 of these guys so I grabbed the nearest object to me, a jade vase, and chucked it blindly. The vase shattered on the wall near Ren's head. That's when Reiji came inside. The first thing he saw was me pouncing on Camus and pounding the shit out of him while yelling as many cuss words at him as possible.
"(Y/N)! Get off of him!" commanded Reiji as he pried me off of a now bloody-nosed Camus.
"Reiji. Let. Me. Go," I said through gritted teeth. "These bastards rigged the game so that I would marry Ren."
"(Y/N)-chan honestly this was necessary," Reiji explained to me.
"Necessary! What about this was necessary! I'm only 22! I don't need to get married" I spat back at him.
"Listen to me," Reiji said to me sternly and tightening his grip on my hand, "You always complain about boys being stupid and disgusting. I want you to live a happy life for your parents' sake as well as your own.
I stopped fighting back. "But Reiji does it have to be Ren?" I complained.
Reiji chuckled. "Oh (Y/N)-chan. You're so childish. Ren is the only guy who isn't scared senseless by you. All the guys you went on blind dates with got too scared of you when you slapped them for even touching you hair."
I blushed. Man, I didn't know Reiji found out that was the reason why I kept getting rejected. Oh god. This was so embarrassing.
"Well," Camus said while stopping more blood from coming out of his nose, "I can sympathize with the poor guys who got beat up."
We all laughed at this. Now I actually feel sorry for Camus but I still can't forgive him.
"I guess its settled then," Ren suddenly said, "It looks like (Y/N) agrees to come with me."
"Hang on," I said, freeing myself from Reiji's grip, "I never said I was coming with you. And where exactly are you going to take me?"
"To my palace of course," replied Ren. "But to be nice you only have to be my girlfriend. We'll leave the marriage part for when you're ready."
That answer wasn't the best but at least he dropped the marriage condition. To be honest, I wasn't even ready to be his girlfriend. Then I came up with a brilliant idea. If Ren can catch me while I'm running around the palace, then I'll go out with him. I feel like such a genius. I'm athletic in every way and I'm sure this prince isn't as athletic as me. I mean sure he has a sculpted body and everything but that's not the same as having stamina.
"Ren I'll go out with you on 1 condition," I told him.
"And what's that?" He asked.
"If you can catch me while I'm running away from you in a game of "tag" then I'll go out with you. If not then I have the free will of declining your offer of being your girlfriend."
"Deal," He answered.
I had this guy right in my trap. While he's looking for me, I'll escape from the palace and go back to the Kadar Kingdom. Jinguji Ren was in for a whole new surprise.
"Okay then," said Reiji, "let's begin this game of tag."
We started off in the palace courtyard. From here we're able to go anywhere as long as it isn't more than 3 hours away. The time limit is 1 hour and if we don't find each other by then, then I win.
"Yes", I thought to myself, "I can actually escape.
"3... 2...1... Go!" Reiji counted down, starting the game.
I quickly sprinted to the gardens in the back of the palace. There's a small forest there where I can hide for a while. Ren was close behind as I ran full speed into the forest.
Ren P.O.V
The condition of the game Kisara proposed made one thing obvious to me. Her goal was to escape into the forest and bide her time. Once time is up she automatically wins. What better strategy to use than this. I'm not as slow as she thinks I am. I have as much stamina as she does so outrunning me was going to be hard for her. I stopped outside the border of the forest and took out my cellphone. I'm not as dumb as she thinks I am either. I dialed Masato's number.
*Beep*
"Hello?" came Masato's voice
"Hi. Masato can you bring the car to the front gates of the palace. The chess game is over," I told him.
"Sure. Is (Y/N) coming with you too?" asked Masato.
"Yeah," I replied with a grin on my face. "Be sure to call (Y/N) when you get to the front gates. Don't tell her I asked you to do this. Tell her Reiji called you."
"Um. Okay. I'll be there in 10 minutes then," he told me and then he hung up.
I started walking to the front gates of the palace. I was ready to make this knight mine.
Your P.O.V
I looked back to see if Ren was still behind me. Thank goodness he wasn't. Now that he was off my tail, I climbed a big fern tree. I was able to see the gardens of the palace. There was no sign of Ren. That was good. This meant he was still somewhere in the forest looking for me. As I sat there scanning the garden for any signs of the blonde, my phone rang. Hearing "Never..." so suddenly startled me so much that I nearly fell out of the tree. Luckily I didn't. I looked to see who was calling and it was Masato.
"Um. Hello? Masa-chan?," I answered
"Yeah. Hi (Y/N). Look, I'm here to pick you up because Reiji asked me too. Come over to the front gates of the palace and I'll be waiting in a black car."
"Thank you Masa-chan!" I exclaimed, "You're a life saver!"
"You're welcome," he replied.
"Okay I'll be there in like 2 minutes. Thank you" I said with a little kiss at the end.
"Okay. Bye," and then he hung up.
Yes! I didn't have to go to the garage where all the cars were to get my motorcycle. Reiji I love you! I quickly scrambled down the tree and ran for the gates. I jumped over flower beds and small fences and made it to the front gates right on time. Indeed there was a black car and standing outside of it was Masato.
"Well? What're you waiting for? Get in," he said, opening the backseat door for me.
I hopped into the car. I hate to say it, but this was the third biggest mistake of my entire life. Why? Because right when Masato closed the door and got in to start the car, a certain blonde turned around to face me. I didn't even see him there because Masato was blocking his window.
He leaned in to stroke my hair and whispered, "Looks like I win."
My life sucks as of right now.
