Chapter 6
I fumbled with the key to open my room's door but I finally managed to open it. Inside there was a huge canopy bed with thick velvet curtains and a dresser with a mirror. On the bed, just like Ren said there would be, was a simple dress . It was a sleeveless dress that had ruffles going down its length. Along with it was a pair of black heels and a necklace and earrings. I changed into the dress and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I didn't look all that fancy but the dress did add a hint of gracefulness. I stared at my reflection for a while longer and noticed the shade of (f/c) was identical to that of my eyes. The real intention of this dress wasn't to make me look fancy and over the top, it was to bring out the best of my natural beauty. I smiled to myself. Ren really knew what would look best on me.
A knock on the door snapped me out. I hurried over to the door and opened. To my surprise it was Ren and he was already dressed in his suit. He looked at me and blinked a few times. His face had a surprised look on it which made me laugh.
"Looks like I was right to pick this dress. It really does go well with your eyes," Ren said while examining me from head to toe.
"Thanks for not picking out a dress just for its fanciness," I said.
Ren smiled. "Of course I wouldn't. That would defeat the purpose of making you pretty. Just because the dress is fancy doesn't mean anything. I want people to look at you, not your dress."
I blushed. Now I'm starting to feel bad for hating this guy so much from the moment we met. I guess you really shouldn't judge a book by its cover.
"Looks like you still haven't done your hair. Come here, I'll do it for you," he offered, leading me to the dresser and sitting me down.
I sat down and Ren began his work. His hand worked skillfully and gently. Usually my hair would be yanked and pulled when people are fixing it but he didn't even pull one strand. In no time my hair was done in a messy bun with a side braid . I looked at myself in the mirror. This is embarrassing but Ren is better at hairstyling than I am with my own hair.
"Well? What do you think?" he asked, fixing in the last bobby pin.
"It's gorgeous," I said in awe.
"I'm glad you like it," he replied, "Let's get going then."
I got up and smoothed out my dress. Ren offered me his arm and I took it. We walked out of my room and headed to the staircase that led to the ballroom, which was where all the guests would be.
Whispers. That was all I could hear as I walked down the stairs, escorted by Ren. This was such an uncomfortable experience. Even more uncomfortable than making a speech in front of millions of people.
While walking down, Ren whispered in my ear. "Whatever you do, don't leave my side. All those other girls will pounce on you if they get the chance."
A chill ran down my spine. I did not want to be tortured by all these Ren fangirls so I nodded my head in response. That is something I don't ever want to experience.
"I present to you His Highness, Prince Ren, and Lady (Y/N) of the Kadar Kingdom."
A huge applause ran throughout the ballroom. I silently examined the faces of the people around me. Damn! All the girls between 16 and 23 were staring daggers through my soul. As a knight I have very few things that I'm scared of. One of them being angry mobs of fangirls.
