Unfathomable Truths

Chapter 22

Josh woke up in an empty bed, he looked around but Arizona was nowhere to be seen. He got up and walked towards the bathroom. He peered inside and found Arizona sitting on the floor and crying. He entered the bathroom and sat beside her holding her hand saying nothing. She looked at him, tears streaming down her face and forced a smile. He wiped the tears off her face and hugged her.

"If you wanna cry, you can. But think about the baby, Arizona. Think about the baby and let me take care of you because you are giving me everything. Let me take care of you both. If you are having a bad dream, wake me up because I don't mind. If you want someone to listen, I will be there and listen to you. I will be there for you Arizona, always." – He said

Arizona stopped crying, her face buried in his chest. She pushed herself away and looked at him and said,

"I love you, Josh."

Josh looked at her completely surprised.

"I love you too." – He said and kissed her

"Now come back to bed." – He added

"Josh."

"Yeah?"

"Lets go back home." – She said

"Alright." – He said

Mike and Dahlia landed at the Adolfo Suarez Madrid – Barajas Airport. While they were waiting for a taxi, a car came and out came Josh and Arizona. Dahlia saw them and froze, Mike was watching Dahlia and her sudden behavior intrigued her and he looked in her line of sight and was also shocked. Josh was holding their bags while Arizona was getting out of the taxi. Mike was shocked, he had come for them and now they were going back. How will his investigation fare now? He can't make an excuse now. He has to stay for a week or else Dahlia might be onto him. And he has to be there for Dahlia because this might be too much; he knows that she still loves him. Sometimes he thinks, what is love? An illusion created by us? Or a reality which is too breaking to experience it fully? He has seen what love has done to Dahlia and he has seen people go mad because of unrequited love. Unrequited love is the reason for all the heartaches and hurt, he has seen it and he has come to fear it. We all have our own inner demons; we are all broken in some way because nobody is perfect.

Mike stands and watches as Josh and Arizona go inside, he finally comes back to his senses and grabs Dahlia's hand.

"Are you ok?" – He asked

She looks at him, her face a mixture of confusion and hurt but she nods in approval.

"Come on, lets go." – He says and gets inside the taxi, Dahlia behind him

"We're going home, finally." – Arizona said sitting on the plane, Josh sitting beside her

"Yeah." – He said

"Will you tell your parents?" – He asked

"I want to but I don't know how to face them now, especially my dad." – She said

Josh stays quiet for some time then he finally speaks,

"I went to your house after you left, I met your parents."

"You met them?" – She said

"Yeah." – He replied

"What did they say?" – She asked

"Your parents blame themselves, Arizona." – He replied

"Why?" – She said completely confused

"I guess you know the answer to that." – He replied

She covered her face with her hands thinking about her parents and how she never understood them. She always thought they were just fighting and she was the reason when the reason was the opposite. Josh hugged her and said,

"It is gonna be alright. We will both go and meet them. This news is worth sharing."

Arizona thinks about the news, yeah it is worth sharing but what about the other news? The one even Josh doesn't know, what will happen? Dr. Evans had transferred all her medical files to Bellevue hospital where one of her colleague worked and she had told him about her case.

Finally Arizona looks up at Josh and kisses him.

"I love you." – She said

"I love you too." – He replied smiling

She falls asleep in his arms after some time. Josh looks at her peaceful face; he is excited about the thought of having a family for a change. He has been alone for a long time now; it's time for a change. He still hasn't asked her if he could tell his sister about the baby but he thinks Arizona won't mind. He makes a mental note to ask her after meeting her parents.
