The triwizard tournament was in full blast. The first task had already been completed, and the Yule ball was quickly approaching. Everybody was bustling with excitement, preparing their outfits, and planning to match with their dates. Everybody except a pretty Ravenclaw in her sixth year, and one half of the famous Weasley twins.
Lily Colburn sat in her dorm, contemplating if she would even be able to go to the ball. She didn't have a date, and wasn't expecting anybody asking her any time soon.
George Weasley on the other hand was contemplating on how to ask a girl. He had a special girl in mind, and knew she didn't have a date, but he wanted the way he asked her to be perfect. He couldn't stand how his twin asked Angelina, and he wanted to make sure Lily knew he was better than something like that.
As they sat in their dorms in separate towers of the castle, George finally worked up the courage to ask her, and he thinks he knew the perfect way.
Lily was picking out a dress, after deciding that she was going to go, whether she had a date or not. She realized that what others thought about having dates didn't matter, and as long as she had fun, it would be worth going.
When she realized that she didn't have a dress nice enough to go to the ball in, she decided that she would go to buy a dress on the next trip to Hogsmeade. With that decision made, she slipped off to dinner.
Sitting in her usual spot next to Katie Bell at the Gryffindor table, she told Katie of her plan on going with or without a date, and absentmindedly looked over to the Weasley twins. She could tell the difference between the twins easily. This is because she had been friends with them since first year. That and she had a major crush on one of them. George. She looked at him longingly and wished he would ask her out. Though she didn't approve of how Fred asked Angelina, she would gladly accept if it meant going to the ball with George.
Katie snapped her out of her trance, and said she would help her pick out a dress. Though Lily and Katie didn't notice, Lily's two best friends had stood up from their seats, and walked over, Fred sitting on Katie's right, and George sitting on Lily's left.
"So, Lily, do you have plans for the upcoming Hogsmeade trip?"George asked.
"Yes, actually, but they shouldn't take more than an hour, right Katie?" Lily responded, confirming that Katie wasn't going to make it as big of a deal as she normally would have.
"Right!" Katie responded excitedly.
Fred smirked at his brother, and Katie looked as if she knew what was up as well.
"So after your little trip with Katie, you wouldn't mind joining me for a butterbeer or something, would you?"
On the outside she looked calm and collected, but on the inside she felt like she was exploding. "Of course Georgie! I would love to!" Lily exclaimed with excitement, but not too much excitement.
"Perfect, so, meet me at the Three Broomsticks at one then?"
"Sounds great!" And with that the two twins left the Great Hall, and the two shocked and overly excited girls to talk. "What. Just. Happened?"
"George just asked you on a date."
"Pinch me!" Lily demanded, sticking her hand out, wanting to know if it was really just a dream.
"I'm not going to pinch you, but I promise that it's not a dream," Katie reassured her.
And then she woke up.
