The Weasleys had been a family of Gryffindors since anybody could remember. It was just Gryffindors marrying Gryffindors, having children who would be placed in Gryffindor, who would then marry other Gryffindors. That's just the way it was.

So, you can imagine everybody's surprise when George Weasley, one of the most Gryffindor of all of the Weasleys falls for a Slytherin. It must be madness. Nobody knows what to do.

Okay, so I guess it's not that crazy, but it is still pretty weird.

He had fallen for her, and his whole house knew before he did.

Sure, they were friends before, she wasn't crazy anti muggle-born like most of the people in her house. In fact, she would probably be considered a blood-traitor by any of them, if they knew where her real friendships lay. Luckily for her, the only relationships that shone through to her Slytherin counterparts were the one with the Weasley's whom she couldn't be condemned for, since they were pureblood.

Samantha Hales was a beautiful girl with curly blonde hair, and grey eyes. She was quiet and shy, but when you got to know her, she was probably the funniest girl you have ever met. Though she wasn't as into pranks as George was, she was definitely better with jokes. She was the queen of sass if you caught her at the right time, and an actual goddess in any lighting. Well, at least to George. He looked over every imperfection that she had, if she actually had any.

They met in their second year. Gryffindor and Slytherin had potions together that year, and Snape already knew to separate the twins. He ended up placing them both with Slytherins to 'attempt to teach them to be proper students'. Of course, George would end up with Sam, and the rest is history.

Of course, I just can't end the story with how they met, can I? Well, it would make my life quite a bit easier, but I suppose that isn't what you came for.

So Snape sent them to their awful seats. Especially awful for Fred, because he was with one of the slimiest of all the Slytherins. George plopped down next to Sam, and turned to her, introducing himself, as if he wasn't already famous throughout all of Hogwarts from the previous year's shenanigans. He learned her name was Samantha, and that she preferred to go by Sam.

"Well, Sam, it seems we have ourselves a potion to brew."

"Indeed it does."

As they continued to work on the potion, and Snape assigned a huge essay, they realized that they might need to talk more outside of class than otherwise expected. They arranged to meet outside of the library after dinner, and Sam even invited Fred along, seeing as his partner wasn't going to help him.

They met there, and headed into the library, Sam already knowing the way to find the books on Hair-Raising Potions. And yes, she had come earlier to scout it, partially because she didn't have anything better to do, and partially because she wanted to impress her new potions partner, in attempts to befriend him, and his twin.

As they wrote their essays, well Sam wrote both essays, and the twins chatted, they noticed that Sam became more comfortable with them. Obviously not completely yet, but it was getting there, and all three knew it. The more in depth the conversation went, the more sassy comments or jokes Sam slipped in. They even absentmindedly began to plan a prank on the Slytherins near her. Upon realizing what they did, George was mortified, and Fred thought it was funny. The best part was their reaction upon finding out her input, and how to make it better, even her admitting the entrance to the common room, which most non-Slytherins did not know the exact location.
