Chapter 9 (part 2): Meeting the Pack

Elijah's P.O.V.

I walk back to my house, still mad that Melanie said no to me.

'How could she say no? I'm her alpha. She has to obey me.' I yell at myself.

"Hey, Elijah. Over her." Someone yells at me.

I turn and see Jake, my half brother, standing out front the pack house.

I walk towards him and into the pack house.

Everyone in my pack is there. I see my dad and step-mom at the front, gesturing Jake and I forwards.

I take my seat at the front, next to Jake.

"Welcome. Thank you for coming at such a late hour." My dad starts.

My pack mumbles.

"The reason we're here is because your future Alpha has found his mate. Her name is..." I cut my dad off.

"NO! Stop." I yell at him.

My pack silences, even my dad. They all have an expression of surprise.

"No. I don't want everyone to know her...I don't...I'm not ready for that." I say.

With that said, I walk out of the pack house.

I run...I sprint...I have no idea where I'm going, but I'm going somewhere.

"Elijah!" She screams.

I run harder, faster.

I run till I reach the lake. The place of my peace.

I strip off my shirt and shorts. I dive into the water. It's cold at first touch, but being a wolf, it warms up quickly.

I surface and hear her. She's at the waters edge.

Her long red hair looked like fire in the moonlight. Her brown eyes were rimmed with red and gilsenting, she'd been crying. She stood at her full height, all 6 foot 7 inches of her. Her white gown billowed out from behind her.

She looked mesmerizing.

Something grabed my ankle and pulled my under the water. I couldn't breath. I struggled to get free. I just kept sinking down.

I heard a splash from above me. I look up and see that she had striped to her bra and underwear. She was swimming towards me, quickly. I heard other splashes and noticed that some of my pack was here. Vincent,Nate, Chase, Charlie, and my Beta Jake, were all here.

She reached me first. She gives me a thumbs up. I shake my head no. I was getting really lightheaded from lack of oxegyn. She nods and swims towards my feet. She turns into her wolf and slices the thing holding me down.

I swim to the surface and take a breath. I wait to see if she's coming. A minuet later, she still doesn't come. My pack is here...but she isn't.

I swim back down and see her sinking, in human form. I panick and swim to help her. I grab her wrist and swim upwards. I breach the water and pull her to the edge. I start C.P.R. After about, a minuet, I give up and think she's gone. Just when I think she left me, she gives a little cough. She opens her eyes. My heart stops beating, momentarily. Then it flutters and I hug her.

"Elijah?" She asks.

"Melanie, I'm right here. I'm never leaving you...never again."
