Emotionless.

That's what I would've called this place.

Empty of all feeling and love. Some, I think, wanted to fight for and believe that one day this would all change, but it didn't.

The people did though. They all gave up completely. Forgetting their dreams of going back  to what was said about the old days - about equality.

Slaves.

That's what we are.

Bred to work for those who stand in higher power. The ones who live in the city of the gods. The mortal gods.

People had stopped believing in immortal gods that protect us. Talk of belief in God or any other type of gods that we can't see got you nothing except for some spit in your face and an order to get on with your work.

The gods who live in the city are royals. They are born into the duty of gods - like a king or a prince. We were told that they are the only ones who will protect us. The only ones we should believe in.

We got no protection from them. Us slaves are only looked down upon. For them the only real people are the gods and the citizens of the Royal City - the city of the gods.

Slaves are just there.

Woman and men slaves were  kept separate from each other. We were trained to work, to clean and to serve.

The most beautiful people were selected as the breeding pairs because the citizens only wanted beauty in the city. Although some of them aren't the most pleasant to  look at.

Once a baby was born it was taken away from it's mother and father and sent to the training facility where it was brought up by nurses who taught the royal language.

Once the child was at a more appropriate age it was trained to work as a slave. Cleaning was one of the most important things that were taught. We all learn that.

When a child hits puberty its true beauty is determined.

If you were not beautiful enough then you were sent to be trained for mining or other tinkering. That way nobody in the city would see your face.

Royal citizens could have their own children and raise them with normal family values. With money comes power. Slaves weren't born with this luxury - a normal life.

As a slave, if you were considered beautiful you become a servant for one of the many trainers - as your training for the palace of a certain god or Royal citizen.

When you turned eighteen and your training was completed you were shipped to the Royal City where you became the slave of a Royal citizen or a god.

That's where I came in.

The shipping part.

I was one of the many boys who are being shipped to the Royal city.

---

The ships bottom was packed absolutely full of slaves. We couldn't even sit on the floor because of there not being enough space.

'Jin?'

I looked to my right to face my best friend Hosoek. He was one of the only slaves that I've ever really been able to get along with. Too many of the other slaves looked like they had almost completely given up on life. Not that slaves had much of a life.

The other slaves just went with what they were told and accepted it as their reason for being in this world. Hosoek was one of the few that actually still saw hope in our future. He saw freedom for us all.
