Slaves shuffled out of the ship quietly. We were finally on solid ground again.
Many slaves stumbled when they tried to walk on flat land. The trip on the ship was a long one and most of them had yet to find their land-legs.
The sun was blazing and the white painted houses reflected the sun so brightly that I had to squint my eyes.
The area that we stood in was dry and dusty. Only a few weeds grew against the walls that surrounded the city. A large silver gate towered over everything as it was opened by six armed men.
'February182111'
I swallowed hard, trying to keep my heart from climbing out of my throat at that moment. Hoseok let go of my hand and started walking towards the neatly dressed woman who had called out his name.
He stopped to turn and look at me. The scorching sun reflecting off of the tears that brimmed from his eyes. A sad goodbye smile formed on his face which was no longer glowing like the sun. Today the sun seemed too greedy to share it's light with Hoseok.
In that moment I despised the sun.
I nodded goodbye, biting my lip in an attempt to fight back my own tears.
At this the woman raised her drawn on eyebrow and shook her head at us. She handed Hoseok a bag and a card and he then walked to the car that would take him to his new home.
Away from me.
The vehicle was a limo, which meant that Hoseok was to work in one of the palaces. He was going to be working for a god.
The boy was undeniably handsome so I didn't expect any less for him.
'December042111!'
I walked forward and took my place infront of the woman. She looked down at her clipboard and once again and raised her eyebrow. I might have caught her grimace slightly but I couldn't be sure if that was just her regular facial expression.
Without a word the woman repeated the procedure and handed me a bag and a small laminated card. She motioned to a limo as well. Not just any limo though; the exact same limo that Hoseok had climbed into moments before.
My heart skipped a beat again but this time for a good reason.
We would be together. My best friend and I would see each other everyday from now on, and trust me I don't think either of us minded at all.
I got into the limo quickly and in absolute silence but the grin on my face portrayed my absolute bliss openly. No words were needed.
The limo ride was silent for most of the way but neither Hoseok nor I could contain our bubbling excitement any longer.
I started to laugh hysterically and failed in my attempts to cover up my laughter with fake coughing.
I looked over at my best friend whom I thought I had lost forever. His eyes were just as full of wonder and hope as I felt my own were.
The ice was finally broken when Hoseok held out his hand to me as if to shake it in a formal greeting.
'Congratulations on being chosen to work for a god, sir,' he said, beaming at me, 'I don't believe that we've been properly introduced though, you my call me Hoseok, sir.'
I returned the smile and played along, taking his hand into mine and shaking it'.
'It's a pleasure to meet you sir Hoseok. My name is Jin,' I said, 'Jin the first.' I added attempting to seem like a very important person. I certainly felt like one at the point in time.
