The Last Goddess
Airlia stepped into the lecture hall and went to her usual seat. She plopped down on the chair and pulled out her notebook. She looked at the clock.
11:57
Class should be starting soon, she thought to herself. She pulled out a pencil from her pencil case and began to tap it repeatedly on the table. As the remainder of minutes passed, people pooled into the class. By 12:01 the class was nearly filled, except for a seat next to her. Oh well, she liked sitting alone in classes. It was one thing to listen to an 'expert' teach all of the wrong information and another to sit next to someone who smells like they haven't showered in a month.
She smiled gleefully to herself, preparing her notebook for the class.
The professor was late, as usual. The goddess sighed and pulled out her phone and headphones. She mindlessly played with it and waited as the other student's money ticked away.
The door suddenly swung open and there was a bunch of quick stomps.
She ignored them until they became louder. She took off a headphone, turning around to see someone dripping in sweat sit down right next to her. Her eyebrows knitted together as she sighed loudly.
"Sorry I'm late class," said the professor as he walked into the class from the lower entrance. Airlia turned behind her and sighed again, even louder, while removing her headphones and putting her phone away. "I was busy taking care of my sick daughter. Well let's get started today."
"Aria?" A male voice asked.
She turned her head a 90 degree angle to see...
"D-Dwight?" She asked, surprised. "What are you doing here?"
It had been 2 weeks since they last met at the café. Airlia had completely healed from the minor burn after an hour and had no intentions of calling Dwight for the hospital fees, not like they were needed since the beginning. She had nearly forgotten about his existence. Life as a goddess isn't all simple, you know.
"I go to school here."
"Really?" Her eyes widened. She had been attending Hawthorne College for two years and not once had she met Dwight or even seen him, and she knew about a fourth of all of the students, and that was a lot considering there was about 7500. Then again...maybe she saw him before at a party or some sort. "Since when?"
Crap. That sounded so rude.
Her cheeks flustered "I mean!"
Dwight chuckled. "It's fine, I totally get what you mean. Same here."
"Be quiet over there!" The professor chastised.
They made eye contact at each other and gulped simultaneously before facing the glowering professor. They snorted, trying so hard not to laugh out loud. Arlia grabbed her mechanical pencil and began to take notes on the lecture of the twelve major Gods and Goddesses of Mount Olympus, still stifling her laugh. Throughout the lesson she didn't even take notice to Dwight, who was constantly taking short glances at her.
Class came to a close as the professor wrote the homework on the board which was to read twenty nine pages in the textbook. He often gave reading as homework and gave a quiz the next class. It was his annoying yet helpful way to teach.
The goddess recorded it in her planner before gathering her things and exiting the classroom.
"Aria!" A voice called from behind her. She looked back and saw Dwight running up to her. Her steps halted, waiting for him to catch up to her. He was completely out of breathe when he finally caught up.
