Anna's POV
News of Vladimir's outburst and great supernatural powers traveled fast over the entire court in a matter of hours. I took Vladimir to the feeders, once he had enough strength to walk on his own. As we walked the other moroi and dhampirs whispers would follow. Every time Vladimir heard them he fell deeper and deeper into a darker hole of depression. I felt it weigh him down. I had taken as much darkness as I could from him, while he was resting, but it still wasn't enough to lift his mood. He made the matters even worse by refusing to talk to me. He block me from his thoughts as best he could, but he failed to hide his falling emotions. He let out a sigh as we entered the feeder's house. I looked past him and saw five moroi cautiously backing away from him.
I had had enough of this, I grabbed Vladimir's hand and pulled him into a free feeder room completely ignoring the five moroi watching Vladimir with fear in their eyes. I knew that if I stopped anywhere near I would not be able to control the anger and my actions. I stayed with him while he fed, my skin crawling as I saw a drop of blood on his lips. He noticed and quickly wiped his mouth. I wasn't descusted by the blood, it excited and woke up every one of my dhampir senses, as blood was not a symbol of food to us dhampirs, but a symbol for battle. We left the feeder's house in complete silence. As we walked I tried to take some more darkness from him. I took a lot more than I should have and had to lean against a tree not to fall over "Anna?" I opened my eyes looking straight into Vladimir's worried eyes. I gave him a small smile "So now your talking to me" He straightened up "Lets go" I grabbed his hand as he started walking, stopping him. "Come with me. I want to show you something" I saw in his eyes, that he was intrigued. I lead him to the lake never letting go of his hand. He didn't seem to mind, because he didn't pull away nor did he let go of my hand.
The moonlight shown brightly on the lake giving it a mysterious glow. "Anna, why are we at the lake?" I let go of his hand "Because it's peacful here" I motioned him to sit down. He sat down on a rock. Now was the perfect time to show Vladimir my new ability. Now felt right where before I was hesitant. "Isn't this a really dangerous place to be at night?" I backed away "No it's safe for the time being. I can't sense any strigoi" He nodded as I took out my stake and held it in my hand "Anna, what are-" "Shh just watch" I silenced him because I didn't know exactly myself what I was doing.
I closed my eyes and visualized the darkness moving thru my hand into the stake. A gasp from Vladimir told me that he was seeing the faint silver glow of the darkness seeping into the stake. I opened my eyes, still consentrating, I made the stake glow brighter. Vladimir had stood up while my eyes were closed. He moved toward me as the stake grew brighter. I stopped and the glow became fainter, until it vanished. He took the stake from my hand "How did you do that?" I didn't answer immediately. He looked up from the stake, catching my eyes with his. "It's the darkness Vladimir. I can take it from you and infuse it into anything silver" He frowned "How can you take the darkness away?" I took my stake back "Because Vladimir I share your mind that's what you said in the carriage the day we went to Rina. Do you remember?" He nodded "But it's more than that I am connected to your mind not just to protect you better but, to stop the darkness, your demon from killing you". "But Anna the darkness will make you it's victim" I shook my head "No Vladimir. When I infuse the darkness it leaves my body and my mind. It can't destroy me and I won't let it destroy you either.".
He kept to himself as we walked back to our living area. I was starting to think that it was a bad idea showing Vladimir my power, when he suddenly took my hand. It caught me by surprise and I froze for a second, but relaxed as he held my hand tighter. I was glad he wasn't looking at me and my reddend cheeks. A single thought crossed my mind, but it wasn't my thought it was Vladimir's "Thank you my shadow kissed Anna" A small smile joined the blush on my face.
"Vladimir?" A deep firm voice behind us made us stop. Vladimir's light playful emotions disappeared and was replaced by emotions of hatered, fear and sadness. He let go of my hand and with the loss of my blush, smile and Vladimir's warm hand. I turned around too. The deep voice belonged to a man, that looked like an older version of Vladimir. The only difference was that he had green eyes and a dark blonde hair where Vladimir had blue eyes and golden blonde hair. Vladimir drew me out of my assessment when he acknowledged the man back with one word "Father". I was so busy assessing the man that I hadn't even thought of putting two and two together.
The song I chose for this chapter is Legendary Lovers by Katy Perry
