Vladimir's POV

After I made sure I filled Anna with enough Spirit to let her sleep for a few hours, I headed back to my room to take off the bandage that covered my face I surprised that there weren't any scars. I changed and headed downstairs. I followed the loud bickering to Nickolas is study. I opened the door and the room stilled.
"Vladimir," Both my mother and Elena said in unison.
"You should be in bed." My mother said crossing her arms over her chest, like only a concerned mother could.
"Your face, there isn't even a scar." I smiled.
"Yes I'm fine and if I'm strong enough to walk, I'm strong enough to know what's going on. Have you found Ivan yet?" A guardian with a broken nose and black eye stepped forward. I supressed a smile, because it felt and seemed like something Anna would do.
"No, Lord Dragomir he seems to have disappeared without a trace. His servants told us that he left in the night, hurriedly with his
family." Instantly a rage filled me.
"We have to find him, if we leave him be, he'll come back with a vengeance." The door opened again and my father walked in.

"We haven't heard the last of him, Vladimir. But right now we, the guardians included have more pressing matter do deal with such as the faction of humans hunting and killing moroi." I frowned and with great unwillingness I let the Ivan situation go.
"What, since when?" I asked. My father sighed pinching his nose.
"They've been there for a very long time. It's just now the first time that they've actually managed to kill a dozen moroi." He nodded at our wide eyes, pacing the room.
"Moroi and dhampirs alike from small towns are flocking towards the nearest court for protection. Their scared and rioting because they feel we as royals aren't doing enough." I sat down breathing deeply.
"What do we know about them?" My father gave a cynical laugh.
"Nothing absolutely nothing. The former king ordered everyone to turn a blind eye." This was bad at least we knew what strigoi looked like and we knew everything about them, but an enemy that we don't even know anything about this was going to be pure chaos.

Anna's father stepped forward clearing his throat. I saw my father glaring at him from the corner of my eye.
"Actually that's not true, the courts might not know anything about these humans, but a few from my moroi and guardians in my town know." My father stepped nearer to him and soon they faced of eye to eye.
"What do you know?" He whispered venomously. Fyodor smiled and shook his head.
"My wife, Marina she kept detailed notes on their faction. There was a young man named Edward Gordon, he knew from the start what we were. In exchange for information on vampires, he told Marina everything about this faction." My father slammed his hand down on the table.
"And you just let her give away all of our secrets! Everything they didn't know!" Fyodor shook his head.
"No, I didn't know. I found a journal after her death were she had detailed everything. In resent years there have been rumours that Gordon has become the leader of the Warrior of Light as they have named their group." Everyone stayed silent. Waiting for my father to say something.

"Do you still have this journal?" Fyodor nodded and took a small book from his coat. It was old the leather was worn and the pages had started turning yellow of age. I took the journal before my father could, both men looked at me somewhat caught of guard.
"I think this should be analysed by scholars not a proud moroi prince. I'm sorry father, but it's clear that something from the past is clouding your judgement." He glowered at me, but said nothing.
"I think Guardian Fyodor Romanov should take the lead on this. He knows more." Some of the people in the room nodded others said nothing waiting for my father. He words surprised even me.
"You're right. Fyodor will take the lead." He turned to Fyodor. "You'll be commanding an army of guardians on this so don't let them down." Fyodor shook his head.
"As much as I'd want to do that, I can't I have injuries that will stop me from fighting." In that moment I felt Anna's presence before she even entered the room. I was surprised that she was up after I had used so much Spirit on her. Her aura was darker than usual. She looked at her father and then to me.
"Vladimir will you." I nodded.
'I've sensed his pain from the moment I walked into the room.' Anna gave me a small smile.
"I know you, don't exactly keep that mind of yours to yourself." I smiled sheepishly as I held a hand over Fyodor's broken ribs. I saw his eyes widen as his ribs started healing one by one. I felt myself getting lost in the warmth and serenity of Spirit.

"Vladimir that's enough" I felt Anna's hand on my arm. I opened my eyes and looked at her as I let go of the Spirit.
"Your a Spirit user," Fyodor said breaking the silence "And Anna is your shadow kissed. You were the one that saved her the day she almost drowned." Anna looked at him with eyes that held nothing.
"I did drown." Anna left the room without another word. I knew I needed to reach out to her. I needed to be her lifeline like she had been for me a million times before. I followed her outside and towards the lake.
"You used Spirit on me." I hanged back.
"Wanted to help you, but I guess in the end it wasn't the right way." She sat down against the large willow tree, clutching her arms tightly against her body.
"I can see him, Vladimir." She whispered softly. I frowned looking towards the other side of the lake.
"Who Anna?" She met my eyes.

"Andrei, my brother. He keeps fading in and out. His throat is bloodied and he looks sad. He keeps trying to tell me something, but I can't hear him." She stood up grabbing my hands.
"He keeps following me, my head hurt the closer he gets to me." I pulled her into my arms. I didn't know how to help her, I didn't know how to stop it. I held her tightly.
"But up an wall." Both of us looked up at Fyodor leaning against a smaller willow tree.
"Envision yourself putting up a wall in your head that stops you from seeing him." I let go of Anna, but she clung to me so I put my arms around her again. After a while she finally opened her eyes looking out over the lake.
"I don't see him anymore." Fyodor nodded and walked off leaving Anna and myself more confused than ever. I felt Anna's mood lift a little, but I knew there was a storm with the fury of all her demons brewing inside of her and when she unleased that storm all hell would break loose.
