Vladimir's POV

His voice made every emotion I felt disappear. Memories of resentment, hatred and sadness flooded back all at once. His dark furious eyes held me in my place, but instead of showing just how threatened I was by him, I smiled at him. "I see you haven't changed" He finally said after what felt like hours of silence "Of course. Life hasn't given me a reason to change yet" He gave me a scrutinizing look. "How is it that I knew you'd say exactly that?" I walked towards him "Because like it or not I'm still your son" It was as if his anger rose with each moment I stayed standing in silence before him.

A hand on my arm made me look away from him. It was Anna as she moved between us, pushing me back "I don't know what your business is with Lord Dragomir and I don't really care, but heed my words if you get to close to him I will not be held responsible for my actions". I had never heard Anna's voice so threatening or her eyes as murderous as they were towards my father. His guardians moved forward at Anna's threat "How dare you blood whore!" The anger I felt to him multiplied and I felt my power soaring, if I didn't calm down fast history would repeat itself and this time I would hurt my target. "I am Guardian Anna Romanov and Lord Dragomir is my charge" Her calm, collected voice caught me by surprise.

My father laughed as if it was the funniest thing he'd ever heard "Well aren't you a funny little blood whore" He said collecting himself ."Sir" One of my father's guardians interrupted him "What?" He snapped "Sir she's the female guardian everyone's been taking about" He turned toward him "She's not worthy of the title guardian" He started walking away "This conversation isn't over Vladimir" His two guardians followed him swiftly. Anna turned to me "Care to explain why I wanted to punch him?" Her question puzzled me for a second "Because my anger got the better of me. Am I correct?" She nodded "We're going to have to work on that" I smiled "Thank you for stepping in, but you shouldn't have done that Anna. He's not someone you want as an enemy" She looked into my eyes "He can be king for all I care, I'll still kick his ass" She walked past me, I smiled to myself at just how daring she was willing to be.

"What happened?" Rina said the moment I entered the door. I looked at her "What do you mean?" She sighed "Vladimir you look worse than you did before you left" She still had her 'dare defy me' front on her face but I knew she was worried "Ah well you can thank my dear father Maksim Dragomir for that" She jumped up "What!" I nodded as I walked over to the liquor cabinet, getting myself a drink "Want me to make him disappear?" I stared at her "Rina we both know you're extremely good at being bad, but-" "They'd know it was me" She finished, I nodded "Damn him. Anna you should have punched the royal pain in the ass we call prince Dragomir" Anna looked at her with darkened eyes.

"I would have, but I don't feel like spending eternity in a dungeon" Danila smiled at her "One good thing out of this is you learned to calm yourself before royals" She turned to him and shook her head "Uh no next time I see him and her tries to come near Vladimir, I'll break every bone is his body" Her voice was the same kind of threatening tone it had been when she spoke to my father and just as eerily calm. Danila looked concerned, I walked over to Anna putting my hand on her slender shoulder "Anna I think you need to rest" Her eyes met mine ready to defy me "Your not yourself Anna the darkness is getting to you. Please go rest" Her eyes softened as she heard my thoughts through the bond "Alright I will" She went too bed after that leaving Rina and Danila with me in the living room.

Danila was the first to speak "Vladimir what's going on with Anna?" I took a seat an motioned him to take a seat next to Rina "Anna more of spirit's darkness away than she could handle" They frowned "Darkness?" Rina said wanting to know more "My power's side effect". Something inside Danila's head clicked "That's why she was at the lake so often, she's been learning how to take it from you" I nodded deciding not to tell them about Anna's discovery.

"She'll be fine by nightfall tomorrow, most of what she took tonight was just one big bad mood" Danila watched me a bit longer before decided on believing me. I excused myself and left to check on Anna. I opened the door to her room, but found it empty. I rushed to my room to grab my jacket thinking that she'd somehow left. I swung the door open and froze in relieve. She was sitting on the windowsill reading the spirit guide. "Anna why aren't you sleeping?" She looked up "I have a question" I took a seat on my bed "Alright" She closed the book "When you saw your father, I felt your emotions, heard your thoughts and saw some of your memories" I watched her with cautious eyes "I already figured as-" She held her hand in up stopping me "I know so here's my question. Who is Immanuel?".

My hart felt like it stopped "Vladimir are you alright?" I sighed "He is, was my older brother. He died around the same time I saved you" She took a seat next to me "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to upset you" When I didn't answer, she took my hand and a familiar sensation ran through me "The past is the past" I gave her a small smile looking down at her. "You know you really are something" She looked up at me "No I'm a shadow kissed guardian and your the miracle saint everyone will love, you just wait and see" I smiled resting my head on hers "They fear me" I said in between the silence.

"Do you fear me Anna?" She lifted her head to look me in the eyes "No I don't and I never will even if the whole world fears you and shuns you, I still won't fear and I'll be there standing behind you, ready to catch you when you fall" I pulled her closer to me "Anna I don't want you to stand behind me, I want you to stand beside me. Because as long as you are by my side I'll never fall". Silence fell again "Then that I'll be my promise of a life time to you" My eyes met hers "And mine to you" She smiled resting her head on my shoulder as I rested my head on her head.
