The drive to the ice cream parlor ended up being about an hour long, as Camila insisted that Lauren's first ice cream had to be the very best, meaning they had to go all the way to the other side of the city to Camila's favorite ice cream place.
Lauren didn't mind though, she actually decided that long car rides were one of her favorite things, especially when they involved Camila's soft singing to the music or the glances the older girl would steal when Camila's eyes were on the road.
Lauren didn't know any of the songs, but she found Camila had amazing taste in music. She found herself humming along to the ones she liked, which made Camila smile.
Occasionally one of them would catch the other looking and they would look away shyly, but none of them ever said anything about it.

When they finally arrived, Camila pulled into the parking lot and turned off the ignition before jumping out of the car, skipping around to the passenger side and opening the door to Lauren.
Lauren smiled and shook her head, she was pretty sure Camila was actually a 10 year old trapped in a 17 year olds body.
Camila linked her arm with Lauren's and led them into the parlor. Her eyes lit up but Lauren couldn't concentrate on anything other than Camila at this point.
The way her eyes sparkled as they reflected the light, her bright smile, the way she was still holding onto Lauren protectively. Everything about that moment was perfect and Lauren wasn't sure if she'd ever feel as in love again as she did in that moment."come on!" Camila giggled, tugging on Lauren's arm and snapping her out of her daydream.
Lauren followed her, walking up to the counter. There must have been about 30 different flavors of ice cream, half of which Lauren didn't even know what they were.
Camila was already off in the distance, filling up her cup with the various flavors and toppings there were on offer.
Lauren followed suit and grabbed a cup, scanning over the flavors. She was grateful they were accompanied by pictures, because she didn't even know what most of the words said. The last thing she wanted was for Camila to think she was stupid, so instead of asking for help, she decided she would try and do it herself. She padded over to the strawberry flavored dispenser, and stood in front of it, trying to figure out how to work the machine. After a few seconds of fiddling with it, she gave up and huffed, furrowing her brows at the machine.
Why did everything have to be so complicated."Watcha doing?" Camila hummed from behind her, she had already got her ice cream, and was patiently waiting for Lauren to finish.
The older girl sighed running a hand through her hair. If she told Camila she didn't know how, then Camila would think she was stupid. Then Camila wouldn't like her.
She brought the heel of her hand up to her head, bashing it against it a few times, if only she could just remember how to work this stupid thing.
Camila grabbed her wrist, causing her to stop her actions, and moved to stand in front of her. Lauren hung her head down, avoiding eye contact.
"What's wrong?" Camila said softly, lifting Lauren's chin so that she could look into her eyes.
Lauren hung her head down again, letting her hair cover her face.
"I do n-not know how to do it" She said, gesturing towards the ice cream dispenser.
