Two Years Later
I stand on the sidewalk staring at the town in front of me. I felt memories rush back to me from when I was younger, I shove them aside. I only came here for one reason and I cant keep Ivan and Kitsune waiting. I didn't know what time it was since I didn't have a watch on me, or I didn't even really know what day it was either. Yet it seemed to be almost midnight since the moon was high up in the sky. I was glad there weren't many cars or people here so that they couldn't see me.
It felt so weird to be back in this town, everything seemed the same but in a way I felt like I'd never been here before. I looked around trying to find the store I needed to go into again. Clothes, clothes is what we needed. It would be an easy job, grab a few new t-shirts and pants, and maybe some coats for winter just to be ready. The only hard part was I didn't have any money so if you don't see where this is going you'll see soon.
I try to remember what store sold some clothes, the gift shop or tourist trap as I liked to call it probably has some stuff like that, along with the supermarket. I started to head over to the gift shop hanging my head low not wanting anyone to see me. I kept looking for places to disappear into too in case anyone recognize me. I hated in a way that I was always on the defense now.
I head into the gift shop and take a deep breathe as I enter. The door makes a ding sound when it opened which made me jump. I looked around seeing all sorts of stuff that would be completely useless to me. I noticed that the cashier girl, who looked around my age but with long red hair, looked like she was half awake. I didn't blame her since it was this late.
I looked around a bit keeping on eye on the cashier girl and too see if anyone else in the store was watching me. I finally noticed a little section where there was some t-shirts and sweatshirts. I grabbed a few for the three of us. Now the hard part was coming up, how the heck to get out of the store unnoticed. "Finding everything okay?" said a voice. I jumped spinning around to see it was the cashier girl. She smiled at me but looked really tired. I nodded yes quickly and looked away not wanting to look at her. "Well, were closing in five minutes to give you a warning." I nodded not looking at her.
I needed some sort of distraction. I could make it look like I accidentally broke something. That could work. I head over to where they have a little shelf of mugs and I check to make sure shes not looking at me. I quickly swipe my hand over the shelf causing one to fall off and shatter on the floor. I look over and see that she noticed instantly. I wait until shes fairly near me and duck behind another shelf where she can't see me. I look and see shes distracted picking up the pieces. I look at the door seeing I could easily make it out now and start to sprint towards it. I ram into the doors pushing the open and race down the sidewalk gripping onto the shirts and sweatshirts.
I pant heavily running towards the edge of town knowing no one will see me there. I felt kind of bad for that girl but we needed all this. I keep running until I saw someone familiar sitting on a bench. Kitsune. "Kitsune, what are you doing here, and wheres Ivan?" I say catching my breathe. "Hes back at camp, he's fine Lucy he's not a kid really anymore. The reason I came is just in case you got caught. You did didn't you?" she asks raising an eyebrow. "I don't know, but whatever I got us all new clothes at least." I say throwing her a sweatshirt and t-shirt. "Well whatever, come on lets head back home." I nod, that sounded nice.
Suddenly I hear footsteps behind us which causes me to whip my head around. I turn around and see the red haired cashier girl walking towards us. I look and see the Kitsune realizes something is up too. "Start walking." I whisper to her and we start walking. "Hey!" I hear her call from behind me.
I don't answer and continue to walk faster hoping Kitsune is catching on. "Hey wait up!" she says again and I can hear her start to run towards us. "Keep walking." I say again. Suddenly she stops right in front of us and we come to a stop.
"You were that girl in the store weren't you? She asks but not angrily. Maybe she didn't notice I stole these. I hide the shirts and sweatshirts quickly. I nod quickly and try to keep walking. "I don't think I've ever seen you guys around here before." she says looking at Kitsune and I. I look at Kitsune and she looks at me and we both shake our heads at the same time. "No... were just... visiting." I say nervously. "Well.. Oh where are my manners, I'm Erin." she says putting her hand for us to shake it. I blink looking at her and slowly take her hand and shake. I pull my hand away quickly and watch Kitsune quickly shake her hand as well and pull away.
"Well we uh should really be going now, right Lucy?" says Kitsune quickly. I nod and begin to turn around ready to leave until. "Hey uh... could I maybe walk with you guys for a bit? I'm uh not really busy tonight if you want to hang out or something." Erin asks. I sigh looking at Kitsune. We couldn't make anything look to suspicious I suppose. "Uh.. sure." I say reluctantly. I look and see that Kitsune is giving me the death stare. "Cool." she says and starts walking beside me.
We walk towards the edge of town while Erin talks a mile a minute. I didn't feel comfortable being near someone new like this. I look over to Kitsune seeing the look on her face told me everything, we had to get out of this somehow. Suddenly from behind me I could hear car roar past us and I tried my best not to jump. Yet as it went by there was something oddly familiar about it. Then I realized exactly who that car belonged too. I stop walking continuing to stare at it as it went down the road at an uncomfortable pace. "Kitsune" I say still looking at the car. She looks in the direction I am and realizes whats going on. "Whats going on?" Erin asks. "Get out of here Erin" I say. The van was starting to pull over to the side. "GO NOW!" I scream at her. "But.. w-whats going on?" she says sounding scared and confused. "Before its too late, go NOW!" I yell at her again. I watch as men in black uniforms pour out of the back charging at us.
I look at Erin who looks scared out of her mind. I sigh knowing we had no choice but to attack while she was watching. I wince in pain the sides of my mouth hurting since my teeth were growing longer. My head sprouts two pointy ears and I watch as my nails turn into claws. I look over and see that Kitsune is morphing too. "Your... a... your.." Erin says from behind us. "Wolves? Yeah." I say plainly. Well, surprise.
