[Chapter Two]

----

Mystery Guys P.O.V.

“Um, who are you? And uh, thanks I guess.” She said, staring intently at her red shoes.

Oh crap. I knew this was a bad idea. She’s asking for my name. What should I do? I was thinking of a way to  get out of telling her my name when I noticed something on her neck.

“Hey, why do you have a bruise on your collar bone?”  I suddenly asked. I looked up from her neck to her face and saw confusion and a bit of fear in her beautiful green eyes. She raised her small hand to her neck and winced in pain. Then, fear took over her eyes as they widened in realization.

“Oh, uh…”she stuttered, taking her time to think. “ It’s… a…um… hickey!”

I looked closely at the ‘hickey’ and realized it was purplish blue. Hickeys don’t go that dark. “A hickey, is it?”

“Mhm…You never answered my question. What's your name?” she asked, changing the subject.

I didn’t want it to come to this. I've tried so hard not to get noticed in this school, and it’s been 2 years. All I had to do was sit in the back of the class, cause no trouble, keep my head down and not socialize. And now, fate decided I should get a girl pushed into my arms. I would have just walked off before anything could have happened. But no, I had to stand up for her. And her was the most popular girl in the school. “Adam.”

“Oh, uh, thanks Adam.  Are you new…?” When I shook my head saying ‘no’, her mouth opened forming a little ‘o’ as her cheeks turned a deep pink. “I'm sorry; I just haven’t seen you around before…”

And that’s how I wanted to keep it that way, I thought bitterly in my head. “It’s okay…”

She nodded her head and started to take a step back. “Well, thanks Adam, for helping me I mean. Maybe we could hang out some time?”

No. NO. NO HANGING OUT WITH ISABELLA. “Yeah, sure.”

“Kay, bye!” she said, smiling at me.

“Bye.” I replied, watching her hair twirl as she spun around to face the front.

I watched as she continued to walk, putting on her headphones. I just got noticed by Isabella. Fuck.

***

I started walking home myself after Isabella left. Might as well skip the rest of the day, I thought to myself. As I neared my house, I prayed that Uncle Logan wasn’t home.

Yeah, I live with my uncle Logan. My parents died in a car accident with my older brother Tyler one day when they were suppose to pick me up from school. No one told me. I sat on the side of the curb, waiting for them to come. Usually, my parents pick up Tyler from High school before they pick me up, so I'm not the first person to leave school grounds, but I'm never the last. That day, I was. There wasn’t a single person. Not a single car. Maybe it was my 9 year old imagination, but I swear there was some tumble weed rolling somewhere.
