I was both eager and frightened at what I was about to do. I have been wanting to meet Eric for a while now ever since I was told that I was getting married. I mean who wouldn't want to meet the guy they are supposed to marry? I'm pretty sure this arranged marriage will work out to be one of the best things this kingdom has done. Just look at my mom and dad, they get along great! I should get along just fine with Eric.
As I made my way to the fitting room, I kept thinking Eric is going to be perfect. Perfect checks, perfect teeth, perfect smile, perfect everything. The maids helped me into my lilac garden dress, because that's where we were going to have tea.
As I walked out of the room, Peter was there waiting to escort me to the garden. I was supposed to be apologizing now, but instead I just made my face as expressionless as possible. He placed his hand out I rested mine on top of his.
The garden seemed like a day away and I thought I was actually sweating. Maybe because I was nervous. As we walked I couldn't help but notice Peter making small glances in my direction. But when I looked he quickly looked forward, with no sign of him apologizing back to me.
I could literally smell the garden flowers as we made our way down the steps. I thought I could see Eric sitting at the table, but I only saw his head. I wanted to see more of him so I leaned forward.
BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER.
I started to lose my balance and I grabbed onto the nearest person I could -- Peter. We both lost our balance and started tumbling down the stairs. I started screaming for no reason, but then I had a reason. There was a huge puddle of mud at the end and I was about to roll right into it, ruining my dress, my hair, and my first impression with Eric, if it wasn't ruined already. Peter saw the puddle too and immediately pushed me to the side as he rolled into the mud puddle and I rolled onto the grass.
Some of the other guards rushed to my side and helped me up. The others rushed to help Peter up. Then someone started laughing. I turned my head to see what I thought was Eric, laughing like someone made a funny joke. Was he laughing at me? I mean I am still perfect nothing is ruined. (Well maybe except for my hair and my dress since little grass flakes were on it) Then I turned my head to look at Peter who was covered in mud from head to toe. I gasped and covered my mouth with my hands and said, "I'm sorry".
He said nothing and just looked at me with a look that said "is this a good enough apology?" And I just nodded. (Well if it was some normal person and Peter made that expression, they probably wouldn't understand. But since I've known him for so long I know exactly what he meant) They took Peter away to clean him up, and I realized that Eric was laughing at how Peter looked and not at me. Or maybe it was the way we tumbled down the steps. Either way, I was so angry at him for laughing that I did what surely ruined my chances with him.
I stormed up to him and said,"So you think that's funny? You know you could easily be pushed into that mud as well!"
"I'm sorry milady but who are you to be speaking to Prince Eric like that?"
I hate him.
"Princess Danielle, aka your fiancé."
"So this is the Princess Danielle, my soon to be wife. I'm sorry, I thought you were one of those servant girls."
" 'Those servant girls' are actually very helpful! And they aren't servants, they are helpers. You thought I was a servant?! Do I look like a servant to you?" As I looked down at my dirty dress and up at my messed up hair, he just chuckled under his breath. That's it. I've had it!
I turned around and started walking away like the queen I am supposed to be, but he just ruined my day, and I was way too annoyed with him. I wanted to get back at him somehow. So instead I walked to where Peter rolled into the mud. I bent down and scooped some up with my hands and started walking back to Eric.
"Wait what do you plan on doing with that?" He said as I walked to him.
I just smirked and plopped the mud on his perfect hair. Not so perfect anymore. He gasped and one of his guards, took his sword out and started running in my direction shouting, "How dare you put your hands on Prince Eric!"
Mr. Menrow also pulled his sword out and started running in my direction shouting, "Step away from the future queen!!"
I was too busy watching the guards run towards each other ready to fight, that I gasped when Eric threw mud at my dress. I picked up my ruined dress and started running towards Eric ready to return the favor.
So while Eric and I threw mud at each other, the guards started fighting, and it was very chaotic.
I was getting very annoyed with Eric, so I grabbed the back of his hair and shoved his head into the mud puddle. When he got up, I stepped on his foot and he yelped.
Just then a voice said, "Enough!" That voice was so familiar, and I knew I was in big, big trouble. But after the voice said that, Eric threw a mud ball, straight for my face. It was coming at me fast so I ducked, not thinking. I knew it hit something behind me, so I turned around, only to see what I had feared. My grandmother covered in mud, glaring at me -- and Eric.
She pointed to us and told us to follow her. Eric and I shared a fearful glance towards each other and obeyed my grandmother. None of the guards followed. I think they were all afraid of her, even though she isn't queen anymore, my mom is.
We followed her to the courtyard where she gave us a lecture about how to be royalty. And that apparently royalty don't throw mud. She kept saying things like, "What were you two thinking?" and, "You've both set a bad example for this kingdom!" It was hard to take her seriously with all of that mud covering her, and when Eric started chuckling under his breath, he knew he had made a mistake. My grandmother grabbed him by his ear and walked away. When she was finished we both went to wash up.
The maids--uh helpers--helped me into my nightgown, and when they finished I stormed into my bedroom, and slammed the door closed. I stood by the terrace thinking about Eric, and how he's a jerk.
My thinking was interrupted by a knock on the door. I walked to the door and was reluctant to open it. Instead I leaned against the door and said, "Who is it? And if it's Eric go away."
"It's Eric."
"Go away."
"I've come with a peace offering."
I opened the door to see him holding two cups of Raspberry White Chocolate Mousse and spoons. My favorite dessert. "Come in."
"Look I'm sorry about laughing and about the mud and the other stuff," he said gesturing the dessert to me.
We both took a seat on the floor and he handed me a spoon. "What are you doing here anyway? It's like 10:00 it's way past my bedtime," I said as I put a whole spoonful of the mousse in my mouth.
"You have a bedtime? Wow they don't let you do anything do they? Your life is worse than mine."
"They let me do lots of things. In fact I can do whatever I want. I can stay up late and do lots of other things. Like...um..."
"Yeah, you can't do anything. I can't even walk around the palace without one of my guards. They follow me everywhere. I take that back, my life still is worse than yours. So yeah I'm really sorry about the mud throwing and for ruining your dress. You... you, looked nice in it." Did he just say that I looked nice in my dress?
"Yeah well um thanks, you looked nice too. Sorry about my grandmother. She can be a bit stern."
"Oh don't worry about it. She only scares me a little."
"Oh, is your foot okay? I kind of step on it hard."
"Don't worry it only hurts a little. It's still red but it's fine."
"It's red!? Let me see," I said as I pushed his pants up further so I could see his ankle. I gasped. It was red all right. Like a ripe tomato.
Rubbing his ankle, I said, "Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize that I might have hurt you."
"Don't worry. It's okay." He rested his hand on top of mine and held my free hand. He gazed into my eyes. Those beautiful gray eyes staring right back at me. Oh no. He took one of his hands and pushed a lock of my hair behind my ear. No, no, no. He smiled, then he looked away and laughed. Either he blushed or I did. I couldn't tell but either way, he wasn't as bad as I thought he was. He was... he was... Perfect.
He looked back into my eyes and held the side of my face with his hand. I don't know how long we were staring at each other, but I know it it was for a while. "Look I wanted to say-"
          "May I come in?"
          Peter.
"Yeah um sure. Well Eric, this was...nice. Maybe we can catch up some other time tomorrow maybe?"
"Ok. For now," he said as he kissed my cheek lightly. He grabbed his mousse, got up, and walked out of the room.
I held my cheek, and Peter rolled his eyes. "What?"
          "You're blushing."
"Really. Do you think I'm crazy. I mean, first I really looked forward to meeting him, and then I couldn't stand him, and now he's making me blush."
"I don't think you're crazy. But don't be fooled by one of those guys. I'm telling you they're always bad news."
"Ok I'll be careful. Wait, do you think Eric is that kind of guy?"
"All I'm saying is to be careful. Anyway that's not what I came here to talk to you about." And it begins.
"Oh. Look if it's about earlier, I totally forgive you for bursting like that. But you are going to need to control it once I'm queen. Ruling. With Eric. But don't worry you'll always be right by my side when I need you, right?"
"Is that all you see me as, a servant? I thought we were friends."
"We are friends. I meant that you will always be there when I need you as a friend. Besides you are taking things way too far. You just misunderstood what I was trying to say. You're going to need to get that under control."
"You know I can't believe you," he said as he stormed out of the room. If he'd stomped any harder, he would have broken through the floor.
"Wait-what did I say?" Great now Peter is still mad at me, and I'm falling for a guy I barely know. Well I guess it's somewhat a good thing that I'm falling for him since we are going to be married anyway. Well I guess I'll just fall asleep.
I closed my eyes and thought about all the crazy things that happened today. Well let's see what happens tomorrow.💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💞 How was that. Sorry that this is so late.
