In the morning, we continued with our long trek, this time to a much clearer destination, as I couldn't risk Sadie being hurt again.
So I was taking her to Angel Headquarters.
I had to protect Sadie. From people like me. Demons, whose only temptation is to kill.We walked all that day, and just as the moon was approaching the top of the mountain, I saw the great Angel Hall come into view. I had planned on dropping her off and running, to try and patch up things with the demon council, to plead for my life.
But she insisted I come in with her.As we walked along hallway after hallway, each lined with comically oversized paintings, they seemed to go forever, when w finally we were met with large double doors, and an Angel Guard standing right smack in the middle, waiting to inspect those who wished to enter. He glanced at Sadie, without a word, and nodded, whereas me, with my still lovely complexion, he was quite perturbed at. But, he soon regained his composure and let us both through.
The room, once full of chatter and party, went dead silent as we walked down the aisle to the head Angel's throne.I broke the very awkward silence.
Good job, Kai.
"So," I cleared my throat before continuing, " I returned your Pure One, so I'm just going to go now..." I turned to walk out of the great hall, when-
"Wait." A voice rang out from behind me. I turned.
"You cannot leave! Do you not know of your past, my child? You are a direct descendant of a very powerful race! My boy, you are a protector! A member of a group who have dedicated their lives to protecting that girl there!" He said, gesturing to Sadie. "That is why you have those powers, boy! Each of the protectors has a different power, to help them protect the Pure One!""What?"
