(FIRST NAME)'s POV
As you neared the correct building Kankri speeds a little ahead to hold the door open for you. You smile and feign a curtesy.
"How noble of you, thank you sir knight." He gives you a bit of a glare and draws a breath in sharply.
"If I were truly a knight it would be Sir Vantas of Alternia. But seeing as I am not a knight nor ever will be, it is just Mister Vantas, though I do prefer Kankri. And I find it highly triggering that you antiquate chivalry so much as to compare my gesture to medieval etiquette. And bringing up such a dark and cruel time without tagging such a trigger is yet another trigger Miss (last name)." You stare at him dumbfounded for a moment. You don't think you have ever seen someone so wound up over such a small bit of sarcasm. Kankri blushes and stumbles over his words at first, "My ap-apologies (First Name) I realize you did ask me to call you by your first name, I was just so wound up that I forgot, and that would also be triggering."
"It is alright Kankri, I'm sorry for triggering you I will try to tag them in future conversations. Trigger warning: heartfelt apology, possible apology rejection?" You weren't totally sure how to go about that, you'd never needed to tag anything in conversation before. But you didn't want this troll to be upset with you. You'd just moved a few states over and the only person you knew so far was your roommate Roxy. You were hoping to hit it off with Kankri so you would have someone to sit next to in class. But it seems you have ruined that now. You looked down at your feet and were startled by his voice interrupting your shame spiral.
"No one has ever tagged their triggers for me... Thank you (first name) and your apology is whole heartedly accepted." He gives you a faint smile, but you can see the hope in his eyes and it warms you to your core. Maybe you weren't a complete failure. His eyes shift to his watch again and you see a different glint in his eyes. Fear. He looks back up at you, "We have 2 minutes to get to class. Come quickly." He looks as though he was about to grab your hand to pull you with him, but decided against it. You chase him down the hall and you huff as you enter room 3 and take a seat next to Kankri and another boy. It seems the teacher hasn't arrived yet, and the class is still settling in and the noise is just above a murmur. You turn to the boy next to you and smile.
"Hello, I'm (first name)" he shakes his head while holding the same stoic look but returns your gaze through his dark shades. You think anyway.
"Dave Strider, your new, aren't you?" You cock your head to the left slightly.
"Is it so obvious?" You ask, twice already recognized as a newbie and you've only been here an hour.
"Well I mean, you got directions from the most annoying guy in school. By the second day most people know enough to avoid him completely." Kankri who was looking forward the whole time pulled his sweater closer to him and turned away from you and Dave.KANKRI's POV
Your name is Kankri Vantas and you are horribly embarrassed. You'd recently met a new human girl at your college, and she didn't run away after you casually lectured her about walkway etiquette. And now she's been told by none other than Dave Strider that she should avoid you at all costs. You knew she wouldn't stick around forever seeing as you were hopelessly doomed to having no friends or even acquaintances that could tolerate you for more than 20 minutes, if that. And now the one person you had such high hopes for will now be best buddies with Dave Strider, who is too cool for you apparently. You tried to hide your face and the obvious embarrassment blushing on your cheeks. When you heard (first name) speak up.
"Kankri? He's been nothing but sweet to me since the moment we met. A little talkative yes, easily offended? Also yes, but kind all the same. I'd be honored to call him a friend some day." She turned to look at you, "provided he lets me get to know him?" Was that a question? What do I say. I see Dave raise his eyebrows at me and smirk. He thinks he's gotten the best of me yet again. Not this time Mister Strider.
"Of course (first name) I would love that, I'd enjoy getting to know you as well." You again feel your face get hot and red. She smiles at you so genuinely, it makes your heart beat a little faster.
"Wow, sounds like Kankri has got himself his first date. I wish you luck (first name), when you change your mind about him, give me a call." Dave slips a piece of paper into (first name)'s hand and walks to the back of the class to greet his friend Dirk and sits with him. (First name) shifts uncomfortably in her chair. Dave was right, it would be my first date. If it was a date? You were sure how it worked exactly, but you always assumed it would be more formal. You smile at her briefly and she does the same but neither of you can work up the courage to say anything.
