FIRST NAMES POV
Within a few moments the teacher arrived, you left out a huff of relief. You liked Kankri as a friend, you'll admit he is handsome and pretty adorable, but you didn't want to go on a date with him after knowing him for only 20 minutes.
Your focus snaps back onto the class when your teacher draws her name on the board. "Miss Lalonde" you read to yourself. You smile a little, that's Roxy's last name. She had mentioned her mother was a teacher here, you just didn't imagine ever taking her class. Her eyes wandered over the class and met with Kankri's. She raised an eyebrow at him, probably wondering why he was hiding in his sweater. "Kankri it's good to see you again this quarter. I do hope you had a good summer." Miss Lalonde smiles at him; Kankri must be on the team. You wonder if he has to try out every quarter or if it is a one time deal. After she and Kankri exchange a few words, she taps her yard stick on her desk a few times. Suddenly 25 pairs of eyes all look up and toward their teacher.
"Good Morning, I hope you are all in the right place, this is Speech and Debate class, let me pass out the syllabus." She turns around and a few students scuttle out of the class, probably in the wrong room. You feel a set of eyes on you, first you look to Kankri, who is highlighting parts of the syllabus intently. You turn around and see that Dave was facing in your direction. He must think you will change your mind about Kankri soon. Turning your attention back to Miss Lalonde and the schedule, she begins to speak.
"... Please pull out paper and a pen. I am going to give you a prompt and I need you to argue for or against it. This will help me put you in groups for tomorrow's assignment. You have 2 minutes. The prompt will be simple, are you for or against the use of cell phones in class. Go."
You hurriedly jot down your argument. You have had this topic before, it's pretty standard for the first week or so of class since it's so relatable. You personally are against it, because if you want to look something up, you should use a computer. You need to come to class prepared rather than last minute looking things up. Your answer is a more flowery than usual, but it's articulate and gets the point across. And before you know it the two minutes is up. You look over to Kankri's work and it's long. He can write fast.
The attention draws back up to Miss Lalonde as she begins to recite pieces of the syllabus that we will need to know.*time skip brought to you by Latula's rad tricks*
As class ended you found yourself lost again, now you needed room 105 in the humanities building. No number. Great. Kankri approaches you, "I assume your next class will also be a struggle to find?" You nod and show him your schedule. "Ah, a theater class? I am taking a playwriting class in the same building. By the end of the quarter your class will be performing the one act plays written by my class. Isn't that interesting?" You nod again and smile at him. You still feel a little flustered. You see him blush back, it seems the feeling is mutual. "We should go then. I'm in room 113." He swiftly turns around and leads you outside. Again he hold the door open for you, this time you just thank him and go inside. Room 105 turns out to be the school's theater, and it's hard to miss.
"Thank you, again, Kankri, I don't know what I would have done without your help."
"Trigger warning: bad joke, self-doubt, apology. I'm sure some 'brave knight' would have helped you find your way. But I suppose you found yourself stuck with me. Sorry about that."
"Well- oh wait. Trigger warning: continuation of bad joke, acceptance, praise, question, possible rejection. You, Sir Vantas, were a wonderful guide, and there is no need to apologize. This class is two hours long but I was wondering if maybe you would like to hang out sometime after?" You feel nervous, he seems so very kind, and you want to make friends but you usually can never work up the courage to ask to hang out like this. You don't know where it came from, but you are really hoping it wasn't in vain.
Kankri's eyes light up as he holds back a smile. "Trigger warnings: acceptance, finishing joke, possible physical contact. I would love to get to know you better 'lady' (f/n), let me just give you my..." He rummages through his bag and finds a sticky note and a red pen, he jots something down and hands it to you. You feel like his hand may be on yours a second too long. You don't mind, and feel a strange absence once he moves away. Looking at the paper it appears to be a pesterchum handle "verboseIntolerable". "I need to go to class, we can meet for lunch if you would like? I'd love to hear your stance on this mornings prompt."
"Sure, I'll message you so you have my handle too."
"That sounds good, I'll meet you here in 2 hours then?"
"Yes, if that's okay." You feel nervous still and you bounce a little from toe to toe.
"Of course, I guess I will see you then." He gives you a small smile and nod, then he turns on his heel and went to his class. He's pretty cute... You shake your head at the thought, you've just met him. You pull out your cell and send him a quick message on pesterchum
