Chapter 1 Just a Dream

Amber's P.O.V.

BEEP. BEEP. BEEP. As I opened my eyes I noticed the wetness of my checks caused by my tears. It's just a dream I repeated to myself over and over again. It's been ten years and I still get these nightmares.

Whenever I stay up too late, the memories of that horrible night take over my dreams appearing so vividly I feel like I'm re-living the worst day of my life.

At least one good thing came out of this I thought remembering how I met Sky. He had only just met me, but all he wanted to do was comfort me. Sky found me all alone in the neighbor hood park when I ran away from home not wanting to hear the rest of the news my dad had given me.

I learned that my mom had been apart of a huge car accident and passed away at the scene. I tried to forget about my dream as I peaked over to the alarm.

I basically had to manually peel my eyelids away from my eye because of the lack of sleep I had last night. My thoughts were quickly pulled away remembering that I had to spend countless hours finishing my English paper about how Romeo and Juliet were destined to love each other. This wasn't exactly how I planned to end my summer. I wanted it to be a fun night out with my best friend Sky and a couple of our other friends but no, freaking Mrs. Jackson had to assign a summer reading book that I so happened to stumble upon on the last weekend of summer. As I looked around my room I knew something was different... CRAP! Sunlight! I knew something was off I thought. Throwing on a pair of jeans and hesitantly putting on my black push up bra was not how I expected Sky to find me.

"Hey Amber, your dad let me inside," he said looking up. "I'M NOT LOOKING! IM NOT LOOKING!" he yelled as he quickly put his hand over his eyes blindingly trying to find his way under the sheets of my bed.

"Hahahaha, look at you, you look like a lost puppy!" I teased but at the same time trying to trip him. "But seriously Sky, try knocking before you come bursting in."

"It's not my fault. I did text you, and besides Amber, its your fault for not checking your phone," he said holding up my golden rimed rhinestone phone.

Angrily grabbing my phone out of his hands I entered my password, seeing 3 missed calls and 1 text message from him saying he was on his way.  "Whatever," I said. Not wanting to explain the reason I woke up so late, "And shut your face be glad I didn't scream you little perv."

"What, I am not a perv, I am a nice guy who came to pick you up. I'm loyal, kind, brave, and not to mention, kinda hot." he said with a hint of sass.

"Annoying! You forgot annoying!" I yelled choosing to forget his last remark.

"And I'm also a caring best friend," he finished while laughing. "Geez Amber you gotta learn how to at least look like a girl," mocking my lack of chest and messy bun.

"You're an ass you know that?" I said while grabbing my books and swinging my bag over my shoulder as I motioned for the door.

"Hey Amber?" Sky asked taking a step towards me.

"Yeah?" I hesitantly said.

"You don't have to hide anything from me," he said with care in his voice as he wiped I tear off of my cheek.
