Everyone was in the conference room. I made sure that I didn't stand out. I didn't want to draw attention to myself. Even with my efforts I got some attention.
A scene came up and showed Loki getting questioned by Nick Fury. I'll called him Fury, Nicks too formal.
"In case it's unclear. You try to escape. You so much as scratch that glass." Fury presses a button which opens a hatch underneath Loki's cell. Loki peers as much as he can from the glass. "Thirty thousand feet, straight down in a steel trap. You get how that works?"
Loki still has a smirk on his face, however that is." Built for something a lot stronger than you." Fury said" Oh, I've heard." Loki looks into the camera, he's talking about the hulk.
Everyone was watching the monitor.
"Ooh. It burns you to come so close. To have the Tesseract, to have power, unlimited power. And for what? A warm light for all mankind to share, and then to be reminded what real power is." Loki said with an even bigger smirk." Well, you let me know if Real Power wants a magazine or something." Fury said with a small smile as he walks off leaving Loki in his glass cell, looking at the camera, smirking.
"Get on Captain America's good side." Loki voice rang in my head.
It wasn't a pleasant feeling, having someone in your head. It felt intrusive and wrong. Nothing about what I am doing is quite right though.
I watched the monitor go black, Loki's smirking face still in my head. Everyone was silent, no-one dared to speak a word.
"Loki's gonna drag this out. So, Thor, what's his play?" Rodgers says. I don't think I'll ever be calling him Grandpa. "He has an army called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract." Thor said in a strong voice, it was really weird.
"You could at least try to be pleasant." Loki's voice rings in my ear again.
"He's an astrophysicist." Banner explains.
"He's a friend." Thor says back.
"Loki has him under some kind of spell, along with one of ours." Romanoff says.
"I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here." Rodgers says, training to understand the enemy, he'll have no luck with that."I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats, you could smell crazy on him." Banner says.
"Have care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard, and he's my brother." Thor says. Trying to defend his brother.
"He killed eighty people in two days." Romanoff shot back." He's adopted." Thor covers up." Iridium, what did they need the Iridium for?" Banner says thinking to himself." It's a stabilizing agent." I turn to see Tony walking in with Coulson continues talking to Coulson. "I'll fly you there. Keep the love alive. Means the portal won't collapse on itself, like it did at SHIELD.
Tony walks over to Thor.
"Also, it means the portal can open as wide, and stay open as long, as Loki wants." Tony continued on about the Iridium.
"Sophie." He says tipping his head to mean in a greeting type of way.
"Tony." I say back in the same tone.
Tony then talks to the crew.
"Uh, raise the mid-mast, ship the top sails. That man is playing GALAGA! Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did." Gosh he's annoying sometimes. He then covers one of his eyes and looks around at all the screens. "How does Fury do this?" He turns." A female agent says to him.
I notice Tony slipped something under the desk hoping no-one would notice anything.
"Well, that sounds exhausting. The rest of the raw materials, Agent Barton can get his hands on pretty easily. Only major component he still needs is a power source. A high energy density, something to kick start the cube." Tony continues rambling on.
I tuned out after that, not really interested in everything Tony had to say. I looked at my nails a bit and inspected the people around me. I only started paying attention again when Fury walked back in.
"Dr. Banner is only here to track the cube. I was hoping you might join him." Nick says in his usual voice. "I don't know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I'd like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys." Fury said.
It made me wonder why he hadn't tried to control me, I wasn't exactly the most reliable person.
"Monkeys? I do not understand." Thor said with his unearthly voice." I do! I understood that reference." Tony and I both roll our eyes at Rodgers, Rodgers even looked proud of the fact he understood a reference.
He must feel so confused, just to wake up one day to a whole new century. I almost felt bad for him. I still couldn't believe he was my grandfather.
........................................................................................................
Wasn't the funniest chapter to write and probably not the most enjoyable to read but it had to be done. What do you think training will be like for Sophie and Steve? Not gonna lie, I was stuck on the last chapter but I wrote this in about an hour.
