After I finished reading the page six times things started to really make sense. My grandmother (Peggy Carter) had a daughter with Captain America who is actually called Steve Rodgers. This child was my mother. That meant that I was Rodgers grand-daughter. It made sense though. I was faster than the average person at my school, along with stronger. In fact it made me think about a lot of things that happened in my life that I thought was just part of life but I've been wrong all this time. I closed the laptop and laid my head back down on my pillow, looking up at the plain white ceiling. Why hadn't anyone told me? Did my mother know about her being Captains daughter instead of papa's?
Part of me didn't want to believe that it was true but there wasn't any other explanation. It made me wonder about Tony's excuse of recording me. Did he know? Maybe I'd ask him again, get some more information out of him. He had to know something about this guy, I mean his dad was part of the experiment that made captain stronger. It had a brief explanation on how Steve got 'improved.'
I sighed while getting off the bed and made my way to the kitchen, I was hungry and was hoping that Tony was around. Unfortunately he wasn't but Pepper was.
"Hey." She said to me with a smile on her face while pouring some coffee. "Would you like some?" She asked.
"Yes please."
She poured me some and handed it to me. I needed something with a kick, besides alcohol, to help me otherwise I might go insane.
"Do you know where Tony is?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"In the lab. Where else?" She answered.
Yep, as usual he was busy doing something or upgrading his suits. I sighed and looking down at the black coffee in my hands. I watched at it swirled and moved to any little movement and how the steam would swell around the rest of the steam.
"Is everything alright?" She asked with a hint of concern in her face.
I looked up at the woman who somehow could handle Tony's business and stand to be around him. I really admired her for that because god knows how I'd cope.
"Yeah, just tired." I lied.
She probably saw right though it but if she did, she didn't say anything about it. Finishing my coffee I place my cup in the sink and then turned around to face Pepper while leaning on the sink.
"Am I able to go down to the lab? I need to speak with Tony." I said to her carefully not wanting to barge into someone else's area.
I was still careful as I was a guest and this was their home which they have offered me. I looked at pepper's face, wanting to see her reaction. Surprisingly she wasn't angry, she just looked confused but overall all she just looked calm, like always.
'It's alright with me but be careful, Tony's very protective over his lab." She said with a smile.
It didn't surprise me that Tony was protective over his man cave, he basically lives there and it's one of the only things he's good at besides all the other shit he does. I walked to the elevator and let it take me down to the lab. I couldn't get through the door as it locked.
"Tony!" I called out, trying to peek through the door to get a look at the lab.
I saw him sauntering towards the door with a smirk on his face but at the same time he looked slightly confused. He unlocked the door and then walked away back to whatever he was doing. I walked in after to, giving him a quiet thank you along the way.
"So, what can I do for you?" He asked.
I looked down loosing my nerve for asking the questions that I needed to ask.
"You wanting to do some blood tests." I said lamely. Yep definitely lost my nerve.
"You just sit over there." He said pointing to a chair.
I walked over and sat down looking around at everything at around the room. I had to admit, it was pretty impressive. While he was taking some blood I finally got my nerve back.
"So, I came across a record on Captain America and I found out he had a daughter." I said looking at his face, hoping for some clue to see if he knew anything.
He scrunched up his face in confusing.
"No, I didn't know that." Lie.
"He had it with my grandmother, Peggy Carter." I said, still looking at his face.
He got the blood sample and took it over somewhere else in the lab with a sigh. He knew something, he was a horrible liar.
"Well, what does that make you? Miss America?" He said sarcastically.
"Tony." I whined. "I'm being serious."
He sighed and then turned around to face me wiping his hand over his face with a groan. He then stood still but that didn't last for long as he then started scratching the back of his neck.
'Yes, I lied. I did know that Peggy had a daughter. The daughter was my friend." He said looking at the floor, not looking at my face at all, almost refusing to.
"So you knew who I was already and said nothing about it?" I said in a whisper.
"Look, I knew you as a child and, even though I didn't think it was the best of idea, your mother thought it would be best if you didn't know. There's people after you. How do you think you got that apartment? I've been watching over you your whole life." He said now looking me dead in the eye.
"What was I supposed to tell you when you first came here? Hey, I've been stalking you your whole life and I know who you feeling are. No, you would have gone ballistic. Better off you find out yourself." He said with a sigh at the end.
"Anything else you want to tell me?" I asked still my voice at a whisper.
"I'm also your godfather." He said in one breath.
"Anything else you want to spring on me. Any brothers or sisters?" I asked sarcastically.
"You've got an aunty but she died a while back." He said in the same voice he's used for this whole conversation.
I nodded my head letting everything sink in. Maybe I'm not alone anymore.
"I think I'm going to have a nap." I said while walking off.
I went back into the elevator and click my floor button. I didn't think I'd be getting any sleep but I needed some time to myself. I had arrived on my floor and walked into my room. I didn't bother getting changed, I couldn't be bothered anyway.
All of a sudden I felt very light headed and before I fell I made sure I was on my bed.
