I waited impatiently outside Jack's room staring in at him as the doctors and nurses hooked him up to machines. Its so hard to see him this way and I can't do anything about it. I feel so useless!
A doctor walks out the room with a clipboard scribbling away at it. I rush to him,
"E-Exuse me? Is he ok" I beg.
"Who?" He replies.
"Jack, Jack Frost" Of course it's an elephant, I'm mentally face palming.
"Oh, well he has a deep wound that needs treating and he is still unconscious but he is stable so that's always a good start" he smiles.
"So he's going to be ok?" I feel my face light up.
"I don't know we cannot be sure but when we do know for sure I'll be sure to let you know."
He grins at me and walks away. I turn back to Jack and see him laying there helpless. Why wasn't it me? I deserve to be there. Another nurse walks out and stands beside me. I turn to her.
"So how are you related to Mr.Frost?" She asks.
"Oh umm I'm his.... Girlfriend." I reply.
"Are you sure?" She laughs, I giggle too and she looks at me again. "You have a wound too, do want to get it checked out?" I look down to my leg.
"No, I'm fine. I want to be here for Jack." I protest.
"He's going to be OK but you really should get it checked out you know, if he awakens I'll inform you straight away." She starts to guide me away I sigh quietly and follow her.
She leads me to a small room with a bed, desk and window. She signals for me to sit on the examination bed, I nod and sit on it. She picks up all these tools and comes to me. "Tell me if it hurts at any point Miss?"
"Just call me Elsa." She nods and starts spraying this stuff on it. slowly I feel as if a single pin is digging into my flesh, I jolt a bit and the nurse stops. "Are you ok Elsa?" She asks I smile and nod hoping she won't see threw my act. "Hmm, ok I'll just put a bandage on it for now and then if you have any problems call me." She hands me a small white piece of paper and puts a bandage on my leg. I jump off the bed and walk as fast as I can to Jack's room.
He no longer has nurses and doctors surrounding him, he looks so lonely. I watch him lay there so peaceful and still. Its crazy to think that it could've been me and to be honest it should of been. I walk to the reception desk and press the little silver bell.
"How may I help you?" Smiled the women.
"Can I go in to see Mr. Frost?" I mumble"
"I'll have a look." She roots threw some files and rings up a few people. I tap my foot impatiently and look back to Jack's room.
"Yes that's fine." Is that it?! 5 minutes of my time for yes that's fine?! Ugh. I thank her and walk to Jack's room and turn the nob.
Slowly I edge into the room and sit next to him. I look at his closed eyes and dry lips. I reach for his hand, its so cold. "I'm sorry Jack, it's all my fault." I whiper, "it should've been me laying there." I feel him slightly squeeze my hand.
"Jack?" His eyes flutter open and I weep with joy.
"Your ok!" I shout.
"Umm yeah?" He mumbles. I hug him tightly and plant a kiss on his cheek.
"I should save you more often" he laughs, I laugh too.
"I love you Jack." I whisper.
