I woke up and stared at the ceiling for a long measure. The ceiling was a dark wood and had exactly seven knots in it. Not that I was interested in the ceiling of a hut, I had to think.
She was gone. My mom would never look at me and smile. She would never hold me in her arms. She would ever banish demons from Quell or even just look at me.
Ever again.
And it was all my fault.
"So, Red," said a voice that sounds almost like End's. I flip over and see Treetop in his pressed black suit and a beautiful staff in his hands.

"Yeah?" I ask.

"How does you arm feel?" He asks.

"Does this answer your question?" I laugh and with shadow magic I split the table in half.

"Well I'm glad I could help." He smiles. "So shall I bring you back to your family?"

"NO!" I scream and dive under the table, squeezing the leg.

"What?' Treetop kneels and looks at me. "You don't want to see them?"

"I.." I sigh. "You wouldn't understand."

"You're hiding here because you don't want to have to confront your siblings about your mother's death."
"Oh." I feel a few tears leaving my eyes, "You do get it."

"Red," He sits on the table and lie down between his feet. "Why do you think I live here?"

"Because you don't like people?"

He laughs a little, "because I don't understand people."

"Huh?" I ask, looking at him.

"They need someone in charge. They can't just survive without having one person in charge, which I can some what, but they royalty has gone off the charts."

"Huh?" I was confused.

"They banned the birth of children," He growls, "just because of the drought. If they thought of anyone but themselves, the queen and king would create a peace accord with the Blue Planet."

"That planet isn't all water you know." I point out as I jump onto the table right next to him.

"Any planet would do." He sighs. "We have almost no water and instead of dealing with it they want to get rid of citizens."
"I don't see a problem with it." I shrug. "When the draughts over everyone can have kids." I smile at him.

"You're a very optimistic person." He says. I smile, but he looks sad.

"So," I jump off the table. "Wanna train?"

"What?"

"Well, you're a wizard and I'm a witch. You should probably teach me to conrol my powers."

"What?"

"Train me!" I hold out my hand. "Please?"

he rolls his eyes and steps down from the table, "Ok." I was so excited. He meets my hand and I cheer with excitement.

"What do you know?"

"Um..." I think, then I say, "I know how to create a fog!"

"So nothing?"

"Nothing."

"Ok.. Let's go outside." He walks out and I follow, bat wings dragging behind me. I was supposed to learn to support my wings when I turned five, but I was down in the mines and with my broken arm, I didn't believe t was a god idea to try to use any magic.

"What now?" I ask as we stand in a small clearing in the forest. He takes two of his fingers and whistles. I grab his leg and hide behind it. Terrified, I watched as three yellow eyes staring at me.

"HELLO!" It screams. It was a white wolf, three yellow eyes and two tail. I let go of Treetop and run towards it.

"Puppy!" I hug it's neck. The wolf thing was about as tall as me, but a little shorter.

"Uh..." It mutters.

"Jinx," Treetop walks up to us, "This is Red. My new apprentice."

"Oh!" Jinx turns and licks me. I laugh and pet him.

"So," Treetop grabs my shoulder and pulls me away from him. "He will protect you from dangerous monsters."

"Aw thanks Jinxy!" I smile at him and he bounds away.

"Now," He looks at me. "I want you to take one leaf from that tree."

"Huh?"

"You heard me," He turns to walk away. "Just one leaf."

My face heats up, "No problem. Considerate done!"

"Good." He nods and leaves. The forest got an eery silence and I stare at the tree. It was beautiful, it looked like a black cherry blossom back home, but white.

"One petal." I hold out my hands and focus on one leaf, "Just one. Not so hard." I concentrate and focus. Taking deep breathes, I imagine a small beam of black magic piercing the stem of the leaf. I let the magic escape my hands and...

The whole tree turned into a huge black pile of shadow ash. I gasp and a little screech escapes my mouth. What have I done? The last thing I ever wanted to do with my magic is hurt something. My magic will be only used for good, but why has it only called pain? I fall to my knees and cry. As my tear fall onto the green grass, it turns yellow and dies. black magic seems to smoke around me. And suddenly, all the horrible things I've done came into my mind and I can't push them back. I watch as my mom dies, my arm brakes, and Kent flying against the wall. I remember me destroying everything.

"Red?" I hear a soft voice asks. I look up to see Jinx liking my face. His white fur is coated in black and all the trees are burned and exploded around me.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!" I scream and run away from the wolf. I trip over a root and fall onto my face. Mud covers my shirt and I lie there. "I'm a monster." I scream. "I'M A MONSTER!"

"RED!" Treetop grabs my shirt. and lifts me into his arms.

"Treetop I'm sorry." My eyes squinted shut as cold tears fall from my eyes. I hear the sizzling as they touch the grass.

"Red..." his voice was calm and collected, "look."

My eyes open to broken trees and destruction. The grass was gone and a tree was lucky to have all it's stump. And right in the center of this clearing, in the exact middle was the most beautiful thing. I roll out of Treetop's arms and crawl towards it.

I pick it up and gasp.

"Treetop look!" I cheer as I hold up a leaf from the white cherry blossom. "I did it!"

He walks up to him, and with each step I watch the grass regrow. "Yes you did Red." He grabs my little hands and we walks away into the woods.

As the final tear rolls down my cheek, I look up at him. "Maybe," I say as Jinx runs next to me, "Maybe I'll be a good witch after all!"
