The professor talks to Atillo on a screen.
"Now all you need to do is connect the couplings, then we can launch." He tells him, but before he can explain more, the screen goes blank.
"God sake!" The professor exclaims, making me giggle. "This equipment. Needs rebooting all the time."
Before I can ask if I can help, Martha beats me to it. "Anything I can do? I've finished that lot."
"Yes, if you could. Just press the reboot key every time the picture goes."
Martha nods, smiling. "Certainly, sir. Just don't ask me to do shorthand."
"Right." Yana says, not a amused.
The man's face appears again. "Are you still there?"
Yana sighs, happy the screen is working again. "Ah, present and correct. Send your man inside."
On a screen we can see a man in a Hazmat suit walking into a room.
"He's inside. And good luck to him." The man says on the screen.
"Captain, keep the dials below the red." Yana says. Jack nods. I look at what he's doing, but I'm lost at what he actually is doing.
"Where is that room?" The doctor asks, pointing at the picture on the screen.
"It's underneath the rocket. Fix the couplings and the footprint can work. But the entire chamber is flooded with stet radiation." The professor explains.
"Stet?" The doctor asks. "Never heard of it."
"You wouldn't want to. But it's safe enough, if we can hold the radiation back from here." He says.
The man on the screen is connecting something to something else. Suddenly an alarm sounds.
"It's rising. Naught point two." Yana yells. He looks at Jack. "Keep it level!"
"Yes, sir." Jack replies.
"Chan we're losing power tho!" Chantho exclaims, making my heart race even faster than it was.
"Radiation's rising!" The doctor yells. I take in some deep breaths, but it doesn't help.
"We've lost control!" Jack yells from where he is.
"The chamber's going to flood." The professor says, fear in his voice.
"Jack, override the vents!" The doctor yells. I shake my head, overwhelmed by too many voices yelling.
Jack goes over and grabs two power cables.
"We can jump start the override." He tells us.
"Don't! It's going to flare!" The doctor yells, but it's too late. Power surges through Jack as he still hold the cables together. He screams.
My eyes go wide as he falls to the ground. Before I know it I'm next to him.
"I've got him." I say, checking his pulse.
"Chan don't touch the cables tho." Chantho warns me.
"Oh, I'm so sorry." The professor says. I keep tears from falling down my face, but barely.
"The chamber's flooded with radiation, yes?" The doctor asks. I look up at him, this was no time to talk about whatever he was on about.
I move out of the way while Martha starts to give Jack mouth to mouth.
The Professor sighs. "Without the couplings, the engines will never start. It was all for nothing."
"Oh, I don't know." The doctor looks down at Martha. "Martha, leave him."
"You've got to let me try." She says, desperately.
The doctor grabs Martha's arm and gently pulls her away. "Come on, come on, just listen to me. Now leave him alone." I stand next to the doctor.
The doctor looks at the Professor. "It strikes me, Professor, you've got a room which no man can enter without dying. Is that correct?"
"Yes." Yana says, not sure what the doctor was going on about.
"Well..." The doctor starts to say. Suddenly Jack gasps for air, his eyes wide open.
"I think I've got just the man." The doctor says, smirking.
"Was someone kissing me?" Jack says, out of breath. I smile and laugh with relief.
Jack gets up and him and the Doctor run to the chamber to fix the rocket. Leaving the rest of us dumbfounded.
