Chapter 23
A knock on the door interrupted my thought of saying goodbye to the guy that I fell in love with. I didn't answer it but I looked at the peephole instead. I didn't have an idea of what Americans called the magnifying hole, but you could get my point.
What I saw shocked me. How did they know that I was here?
Who was I kidding? Of course a famous boy band could do something as unrealistic as this.
It was Kian knocking on my door. I didn't answer it, hoping that I would still have a chance. "There's no one in here, lads," he told the group.
Of course I didn't know where the rest of the members were, but I just kind of figured it out.
The question still lingered around my head.
How did they know that I was here?
I already changed the name to Nikki Phillips. How could they still possibly know that I was staying in this hotel?
"You four," Shane decided to come into the view. He pointed at his bandmates who soon joined him. It was a little hard peeping through this hole but it was all worth it just to hear their conversation. "Go check upstairs, I'll ask the registration booth for the latest people who checked in last night. I'm guessing that Rain changed her name," then they disappeared right after that.
Shane was smart. How did he figure that out?
But wait, I needed to get out of here first.
I waited a minute before walking out of the room. Since I didn't bring my things with me, I didn't have anything to worry about other than myself.
I ran to the stairs because I figured out that if I used the elevator, it was closer to the counter and the chance of Shane spotting me was higher.
Yeah, Shane was smart, but I knew how to use my brain too.
I was far from the registration booth or counter, whatever you may want to call it. I could see Shane talking to her and the lady checking on her log book. I was walking normally when her familiar voice called to my attention.
"Miss Phillips!" she greeted. "Are you going to check out?"
Shane turned around and looked at me.
"She's not i—" Mark's voice was cut when he saw me wide-eyed staring at all of them. I took a glance at Nicky and saw worry in his eyes. I saw Kian with the same expression and lastly, I saw Bryan.
And that was when I ran for my dearest life.
Did you know how it felt like to run like you were some sort of a criminal because everybody was looking at you? I knew for the fact that the four members of the most famous band in the world were now running after me.
I guessed that Shane was settling things back at the hotel. He was the frontman of the group. He had the responsibility to do so.
When I ran out of breath, I decided to stop running and turned around to look at them. They stopped a few steps away from me. "I didn't want to resort to this but you gave me no choice," I breathed out. "Hey everyone!" I called. "It's Westlife!"
Everyone had the same reaction. Four guys eyed me like I was insane and I just looked at them whilst the crowd tried to surround them.
After one last breath, I decided to run again.
I knew that I lost them because I heard no footsteps behind me and I turned around for confirmation already.
I was waiting for the stoplight to go green when somebody grabbed my hand and turned me around to face him.
Oh no.
"Cut the chase, Rain," Bryan told me with anger in his eyes whilst he was breathing heavily.
"I could just yell again, Bryan," I told him without breaking eye contact. "Release me or I'll scream,"
"I'm getting tired of you running away," he said through gritted teeth. "Why can't we just have a talk? Why do you need to make this so damn difficult?! Do you think that running away will solve anything?!"
"In my case, I think so," I admitted. "Why do you care so much anyway?"
"We care for you, Rain," he told me. "I care for you,"
"Well," I tried to get away from his grasp but he just held on tighter. "Stop caring, Bryan,"
"I can't,"
"You can,"
"I can't," he pursued. "Do you know why?"
"I don't want to know, Bryan," I tried getting away again. "Get awa—"
"Because I love you, Rain,"
I stared at him in shock after he said that. Was I hearing things right? It couldn't be. "What?" I just laughed with no humor. "You've got to be kidding me,"
"I'm not kidding, Rain,"
"Easy for you to say!" I snapped.
"I know you like Nick—"
"Who said that I like Nicky?" I asked.
"Didn't you just kiss him?" he asked, confused.
"Don't you have a girlfriend, Bryan?" this time, I was angry. How could he tell me that he loved me? He already had a girlfriend! Was I another woman for him to play with? "Kerry Katona? Ring any bells?"
"That's not tru—"
"Don't deny it, Bryan," I poked him on the chest harder than I expected. "I saw you two kissing, don't start this bullshit with me,"
I pulled my arm away with all the strength that I could muster. I was proud to say that I got out of his grip this time. I turned around, ready to walk away from him when he caught my arm and spun me around just in time for his lips to meet mine.
