Chapter 4
Can I have this dance?
Carrie's POV
It was finally Saturday and I was gathering my things to take to the car. I was carpooling with Luke, Anna, and Michael to get ready at her house for the ball tonight. She was frantic, running all around the hotel to try to find her wallet that she seemed to misplace. Luke was helping her rip the cushions off the couch and turn over the bed in the room. It wasn't until Michael threw her wallet at her that she finally calmed down.
"All better in Anna-land?" he asked with a sarcastic grin. She rolled her eyes at him and scoffed.
"Yes, thank you. You guys ready?" she asked, pointing at the three of us by the door.
"Yeah I jus—okay where is it?" Michael groaned in annoyance. I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"Where's what?" Anna asked.
"Don't play dumb. Where are my goddamned headphones, Annabelle?"
"Okay why do you assume I have them?" she asked, trying to hide the smile threatening to give her away.
"Because you always lose yours and take mine. This is the 7th time. Believe me, I've counted."
"Hey, it's the 6th time for your information. And they're in my purse," she admitted.
"You see? Fucking trying to li—"
"Guys seriously, we have to check out at 1:30. It's 1:25 now. Can we go?" Luke butted in. I agreed and picked up my luggage and Luke decided to help me out with my larger carry-on. I gripped onto my dress bag tightly and managed to open the door. Going down to the first floor, Anna headed to the checkout desk and Luke, Michael and I headed to her car out front where Dave was waiting for us. From what Luke had informed me, Ashton and Calum were en route to her house already.
Once Anna was done checking out, we piled into the separate cars and headed off. Anna was driving her car while Dave took the other van. Luke and Michael went with Dave and followed us as Anna led the way to her house. We talked about things ranging from family to fashion. I learned she had two siblings, both of them older. One older brother named Allistair Skylar who goes by Sky and an older sister whom Anna claims her as the alpha sibling since she's the oldest of the bunch. Alexandria Scarlett was her name and she went by Alex. Anna was the baby of the bunch, being 5 years younger than Alex and only 3 with Sky. She learned that I was an only child, having the company of my best friend Tony since we met when I started year 6. I explained how close we got with each other when we were treated as the outcasts in school, the weird ones. We were interrupted with a phone ringing through the car speakers. Her phone was connected to her hands free Bluetooth and she was able to command the car to answer.
"Last one home helps mom in finishing the decorations," the voice spoke. We then heard a honk, causing our heads to snap in the direction of which it came from.
"Seriously, Ali?"
"How many times must I tell you to stop calling me th—"
"Sheesh calm down Sky. But you're on," she grinned wickedly, revving her cars engine. I was able to figure out that the person on the phone was Skylar and I laughed at their antics. Thankfully there was barely any traffic on the highway which caused her to weave in and out of lanes trying to get far away from her brother. The call ended and she asked if I saw his car anywhere. I looked in all directions I could possibly see and saw no sign of him. "FUCK!"
