Albus saw the lights coming from a castle. He stared at the castle, amazed. He couldn't move. When they got off of their boats, they saw an old lady with a tall purple hat and a long purple dress waiting for them near the entrance of the castle.
"Good evening students," she called out, "I am Professor McGonagall, Hogwarts's headmistress."
Everyone was looking at Professor McGonagall like they were afraid of her.
"In a few moments, you will walk through this door and be sorted into one of these four houses: Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, Slytherin, and Hufflepuff," she said.
And she led them through the doors of Hogwarts, into the Entrance Hall and then to the Great Hall. There were four long tables with benches on the sides of them. Students were waiting for the first years to get sorted so they could eat. Albus saw his brother, James, sitting at the Gryffindor table with his friends Galliac Longbottom and Jake Finnigan. Professor McGonagall kept talking to the first years but Albus was too busy looking around. It wasn't that later on when Albus started focusing on a old hat that was sitting on a chair. Professor McGonagall had seemed to have stopped speaking. She had a scroll in her hand now.
"Abcrattle, Zamboo," she called out.
A thin girl stepped out of the crowd of first years and sat on the chair. Professor McGonagall place the hat on Zamboo and it quickly screamed, "HUFFLEPUFF!"
The sorting kept going. Scorpius was sorted into Slytherin. And then it was Albus's turn.
"Potter, Albus!"
Albus nervously stepped out of the crowd and sat on the chair.
"I wondered when I'd be seeing you," said Professor McGonagall.
She placed the Sorting Hat on Albus.
"Ah, a Potter," it began, "I remember your father, indeed. He was a cunning boy. He would have been good in Slytherin. It seems you have the same personality."
"No, no, NO!"
But before Albus could stop the hat, it screamed out, "SLYTHERIN!"
Everyone was staring at him. He didn't know what to do. Suddenly, he burst off the chair and ran out of Hogwarts, crying. One of the professors followed him. Albus knew him as Neville Longbottom.
