Riley walked into Lucas's hospital room, nervous at what she might find.
Lucas was asleep, his eyes were closed and there was an IV in his left arm. Riley sat down next to him and took his hand. His was larger than hers, and his was cool.
Lucas's head started rolling around the pillow and he started mumbling something. "M-Maya. Mayaa." He mumbled. Immediately she let go of his hand as if it was poison. Storming out into the waiting room she brushed past Maya and Farkle.
"He wishes to talk to you, Maya." Riley snapped
"Riley!" Maya gasped.
Riley turned on her heel. "Go talk to him Maya. He wants to talk to you." She said before walking out of the hospital.
Riley grimaced as the hot, dry air hit her face, and the reality hit her. Lucas no longer was the same.

A day later, when they brought him home, he immediately asked Maya out for a horseback ride. Maya obviously didn't want to yet agreed when she saw Riley nodding.
Lucas grabbed her hand and took her out for the horses. Riley felt tears welling in her eyes. Farkle looked at Riley, wrapping his arms around her. Finally feeling safe to let go, she cried.

"Sooo, uh Ranger Rick, I'm flattered you asked me out for a ride and all. But I think you've got the wrong girl." Maya said once they were out of earshot.
"No. I meant to ask you. My blonde beauty." Lucas flirted.
"Uh. I'm not a beauty, especially not yours."
"Well then, do you want to be my girlfriend?"
"Uh."
"Do you want to go out with me?" Lucas asked.
"No, but-" Maya was cut off by Lucas's lips crashing into hers. They were kissing and Maya loved it. Until she thought of Riley...

"Maya, can we talk?" Riley asked, her when she got back from the ride.
"Sure." Maya replied. They walked out to the field and sat next to each other on a fence.
"What happened on your date with Lucas?" Riley asked.
"Nothing, really. We rode our horses and didn't talk much. It was a good time." Maya lied.
"Nothing else happened?" Riley said starting to smile.
"N-no." Maya said.
"You have a secret. About me. And what happened between Lucas and you."
"I do."
"Sisters should tell each other their secrets. Don't you think?" Riley asked, her eyes filling with tears.
"Riles-" Maya started.
