The next morning Harry found himself rummaging up his closet as he started packing for his much awaited London trip. He was feeling quite excited as Gold would be accompanying him to London. He was eager to spend some time with Gold alone away from home. He was lost in his daydreams in which he was holding Gold in his arms and kissing her in front of the Big Ben when his phone started ringing. The insistent sound of his ringtone brought him brutally back to the hard reality. His annoyance was vanished when he saw Gold's name blinking on his phone's screen. He replied promptly.
'Harry! Are you done with your packing, yet?' Gold's voice jingled through.
'Almost done,' Harry half lied. He still couldn't decide what to wear on the night of Gold's birthday.
'Alright! Get finished with it fast then. We will be leaving tonight if you've forgotten,' Gold teased him.
'No, of course not,' Harry huffed.
'Right. I'm going to see Mona. I'll be back in an hour or so,' she informed him hastily.
'Okay,' Harry replied without arguing with her a bit.
'Great!' Gold cooed. She heaved a sigh of relief as Harry didn't object.
Gold took her car keys and headed for Mona's house. She called Mona several times on her way but she didn't pick up the calls. She parked her car on the sidewalk in front of Mona's place and got out of her car. She rang the doorbell and waited patiently at the front door. No one answered the door. She pressed the doorbell again.
'Coming,' a sleepy voice said from behind the door.
Mona was pretty much surprised to find Gold standing on her doorstep in the morning. She hugged Gold and led her inside the house.
'I wasn't expecting you, dear,' Mona said as they took seats on the comfortable couch.
'Oh, I thought that I would rather give you a surprise, Mona Darling!' Gold said, smiling.
'Aww... That's so sweet of you!' Mona smiled back at her best friend.
'So, when are you leaving for London with Bad Harry?' Mona asked as she walked towards the kitchen. She turned on the coffee machine and opened the fridge to find something suitable for breakfast.
'Tonight itself, in the 10 o' clock train,' Gold answered.
'Nice. So, you'll probably hit London at around midnight,' Mona remarked.
'Yes! We'll chill out a bit tomorrow as it's Harry's audition on Monday,' Gold went on to say.
'Isn't it your 21st birthday on 6th of this month?' Mona questioned.
'Uh, huh,' Gold replied.
'So, what are the plans for your birthday?' Mona asked curiously.
'Harry has planned something for sure but he's not telling me, saying it's a surprise for me,' Gold said.
'Oh, I see,' Mona said and went back to the kitchen.
She wondered what Harry had planned for Gold's special day. She remembered how despaired Harry sounded when she had called him the last time and felt pity for his hopeless condition. I hope the poor guy gets Gold's attention this time; he really deserves it. She returned to the living room, carrying two steaming coffee mugs and some pancakes in a tray. She placed the tray on the centre table and took her seat.
'Hmm... I love your coffee so much,' Gold praised Mona as she sipped her coffee happily.
'Have the pancakes, too,' Mona slid the dish towards her friend.
