Naia
I woke up in an unfamiliar but beautifully decorated, luxurious room feeling dizzy and confused. The last thing I could remember was leaving Lia's hospital room with Kim so Damian's family could meet the babies. A smile formed on my lips despite the pain in my head as I thought about my adorable godsons. I suddenly felt distressed as I realized I had been so caught up in their cuteness that I didn't even ask their names! I was going to wither away all alone in the lap of luxury without knowing the names of my beautiful god babies.
Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyy you cruel world?! Why?! I thought as I tried to sit up and inspect my surroundings. I couldn't so I just flopped onto my back in defeat.
From what I could tell though a lot of money was spent on this room, if that glittery three tiered chandelier was any indication. It made the pale lavender walls seem luminous, as the sun from the open windows filtered through the tiny glass pieces. The intensity of the natural light gave me the impression that it was well into the morning.
How long have I been here? On second thought, WHERE is here? I wondered in frustration as the dizziness increased.
I tried without luck to wrack my brain for memories of how I ended up here but all I got was a headache for my efforts. I found myself wondering if anyone realized I was gone. Kim probably noticed since she was the last person I-
"Ohhh my God! Kim!" I yelled before slapping a hand over my mouth after my outburst.
A sudden rush of images flooded my mind as my missing memories surfaced.
"I'm so stoked about the babies," I said to Kim while doing my happy dance when the door closed behind us.
She laughed at my obvious excitement and nodded in agreement. We entered the waiting area and saw that two men were sitting casually waiting. They must have women on the ward, I thought to myself.
As soon as they saw us they got to their feet, one pulled a gun and shot Kim with some kind of dart. I couldn't scream as I was suddenly grabbed from behind and my mouth and nose covered with a weird smelling cloth. Black dots started to dance before my eyes as whatever was on the cloth caused me to lose consciousness. The last thing I saw was Kim as she crumpled to the floor after banging her head on the edge of one of the chairs. The sight of her limp body and bleeding head was too much so I let the darkness claim me.
I closed my eyes tightly to hold back tears as I prayed fervently that my last memories were inaccurate and Kim was alive and well.
"Oh good you're finally awake, that dunderhead put far too much chloroform on that cloth. I was worried you might go into a coma," said the familiar and far too cheerful man standing in the now open doorway of my prison, "I would get into so much trouble if you were hurt, but you aren't so I won't, which is good just in case you're wondering," he grinned.
I glared at him, "will you shut up?!"
I was not in the mood to play nice with someone who may have been involved with the possible death of one of my best friends.
"I get that you're mad, but come on we haven't seen each other in a long time I kinda hoped you'd be happy," he said sulking.
I pinched the bridge of my nose to retain a calm demeanor.
"There's a reason I've avoided you people for all these years! You're crazy! The fact that you killed my best friend and kidnapped me is testament to that fact!" I said, although by the end of it I was yelling so loud that my dumb wannabe kidnapper was cringing away from me.
I tried to get up again but felt a severe wave of nausea and dizziness. He rushed over and eased me back onto the bed.
"You should take it easy, you maybe feeling the after effects of the drug for a while and if its any consolation the cute redhead isn't dead but she maybe concussed since she hit her head so hard," he told me with a hint of guilt.
I opened my mouth to give him a piece of my mind but he quickly pressed a cool glass of water, that I hadn't noticed sitting on the bedside table, against my lips causing me to realize how thirsty I was. I gulped it down a little too quickly and ended up coughing and sputtering, leaving us both damp from a mixture of spit and water.
"Ewww Naia, still not a lady I see," he teased.
I couldn't help the smile pulling at my lips from the age old joke.
"Nope but that's okay since you still haven't hit puberty," I shot back earning a playful glare from the brunette sitting on the edge of my bed.
"I really missed you," he said smiling warmly and looking at me expectantly.
I sighed and punched his shoulder in an affectionate gesture. I guess I didn't have to be mean to him since Kim wasn't seriously hurt or worst.
"Okay maybe I missed you too," I admitted, "but just a little bit though," I added quickly as his face lit up from my confession.
I decided to use this moment to question my kidnapper and hopefully find out why I was forcefully brought here. However, I was too open in my facial expressions because he anticipated my interrogation and shot my hopes down before I could even get a word in.
"You ought to know better Naia, I can't tell you anything," he said standing up to distance himself and regain a semblance of professionalism.
"Well when am I gonna know what's going on here?" I huffed in frustration.
"When he decides its time to tell you, which fortunately may be soon since you're awake," he told me, "I'll call him after the doctor checks you over to make sure there won't be any lingering effects, you've been out for two days."
Two days?! I thought in disbelief.
"I don't like this, he's stayed away all these years why now?" I asked aloud knowing very well that the question wouldn't be answered.
Well, not until he felt like making an appearance. In the mean time at least he was thoughtful enough to put someone I was comfortable with in charge of watching me. As if sensing the need for a change of subject my stomach let loose a loud inhuman sound, effectively breaking the tension that had filled the room. My babysitter laughed.
"Definitely not a lady!"
"Whatever!" I snorted, "the least you can do is get me food after all this emotional upheaval," I said as I dramatically pressed the back of my hand to my forehead like a damsel in distress.
He chuckled and left the room to do my bidding, leaving me alone to wonder what I could possibly have been brought here for. I found myself becoming drowsy again after all that talking and thinking. I couldn't help but wonder if Zandre missed me or was worried about me.
I was hoping that whatever this was about would be dealt with quickly so I could get back home to him. I don't know if it was the drugs making me think crazy but, I missed him.
I really do, I thought as I dozed off again.
