(Dex's POV)
"Wake up Dex. We have training. You gotta wake up. Dex," someone called trying to wake me up. I felt the mattress move as someone sat down and gently began to rub my arm in an effort to wake me. Wait, someone's on my bed. I opened my eyes instantly and shoved the blurry figure leaning over me off the bed. When I heard the person hit the floor I sat up.
"Oww," said Eli rubbing his sore head.
"Oh my gosh I'm so sorry," I said jumping down to help him up.
"You've got quite the punch there Dex," said Eli dropping his arm.
"Why were you trying to wake me up anyways?" I asked him.
"The gang and I are starting training and I was wondering if you wanted to."
"Sure just give me a sec," I said pushing him out of the room. I changed into my slinger clothes and grabbed my blaster. I whistled for my Slugs as I walked out and they hopped into my Slug Tubes. I walked outside to see Kord and Trixie sparring and Pronto and Eli watching on the side. I sat down next to the and watched the fight. Trixie fired her Arachnet Slug and Kord shot his Rammstone. It knocked Trixie's Slug aside and tore up the ground near her, causing her to stumble and fall.
"Nice job Kord," said Eli clapping.
"Thanks Eli," the cave troll said as he helped Trixie up.
"Alright my turn," said Eli standing. "Who wants to be my sparring partner?" Nobody accepted his offer and enthusiastically denied it.
"I'll do it," I said standing up.
"Are you sure?" Eli asked.
"Definitely." We got into our positions and suddenly my eyes widened and my mouth dropped in shock.
"Look out!" I yelled gesturing to something behind him.
"What?" Eli yelled frantically turning around. I dropped the act and fired Rocky. He crashed near Eli's feet and knocked him sideways.
"I win," I said triumphantly. "I did tell you to look out," I said helping Eli up.
"Wanna go again," he asked smiling.
"Sure," I said and we got into our stances again. I immediately fired Amp while Eli fired his Frostcrawler. It froze Amp in a block of ice and was heading towards me but I managed to roll in front of it and fire Shard and Gust, my Tormato Slug. Eli dived out of the way of Shard's ice blast but had to move frantically to avoid Gust. Then he fired Burpy while I fired Splish. He managed to maneuver out of the way of Burpy's fire and doused him. I fired Webby just as Eli fired his Bubbaleone. Webby's web ricocheted of the Bubbaleone and back onto me. I tried to jump aside but it caught me anyways.
"Nice work," said Eli helping me up. "That's the first time somebody's ever stopped Burpy."
"Thank you," I said as we all walked back in. I began walking back towards my room but Eli stopped me.
"We are working on a plan to blow up one of Dr. Blakk's factories. You want in?"
"You know it," I said following him. The rest of the gang was gathered around a table with a map on it.
"This is a map of one of Blakk's Ghoul factories," said Eli. "Our job is to stop it. Here's the plan. Kord is going to act as a supplier and distract the entrance guards while the rest of us slip inside. Once behind the wall we need to make our way to the boiler room. If we can cut the power, it will give us enough time to get the the Ghouls. Then we're going to transport them outside via one of Pronto's tunnels. Once outside Trixie, I want you to wreck havoc as we make a break for the door where the Mechabeasts will be waiting. We hook up the Ghouls and take them back to the hideout. There Doc here will cure them, turning them back to regular Slugs."
"Sounds like a plan," said Kord.
"Alright get a good night sleep cause we got be work tomorrow ," said Eli and the gang went to turn in. I stayed, watching as Eli went over the map again.
"You really think its going to work?" I asked walking up to him.
"I hope so," he said without looking up.
"Do you think we'll ever stop Blakk, I mean for good?" I asked.
"I don't know," he said looking at me sadly. "But as long as I'm here I won't stop until Blakk is finished."
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your Dad?" I asked softly. Eli didn't look at me.
"I don't know," he admitted. "They say Blakk was the last one to see him alive. I don't know where he is now." Feeling like this myself sometimes, I knew he was holding in a lot of emotions. He was a Shane. He wasn't supposed to show fear, or sadness.
"Hey," I said leaning down to look at him. "It's gonna be ok. You'll find him soon, I promise."
"Thanks Dex," he said and I gave him a quick reassuring hug before walking back to my room.
