(Eli's POV)
"It's the Slug Run," the TV announcer said. "A new deadly course with new deadly challenges. So expect the most ruthless, wide racing on a course so deadly it's insane." My eyes got wide and the stupidest grin came on my face.
"We have got to try that." I turned around to see Dex with the same expression.
"Oh no, the Slug Run is the most dangerous race in Slugterra," said Kord.
"This is Dex Cane you're talking to," she said smirking. "Danger is my middle name."
"If you think you're entering alone you got another thing coming," I said standing up.
"You wanna go toe to toe, Ellie?" she asked walking up to me.
"You better believe it," I said taking a step towards her. "And it's Eli."
"You're on," and then she raced outside. I ran after her and we all jumped on our Mechabeasts. Soon we arrived at race track. There were already other racers on all kinds of Mechabeasts. We decided to fuel up our Mecahs and get a little relaxation before the race. While walking over to the recharge station I saw someone who I did not want to see again.
"Twist," I growled and everyone looked towards the traitor himself. He turned and caught us looking and smirked. Then his eyes shifted towards...Dex! He smirked at her and winked.
"Who are you supposed to be?" Dex asked haughtily.
"The names Twist," he said walking over to her.
"And why should I care?"
"Feisty," said Twist smirking. Then Dex sighed.
"Why are the cute ones always evil?" she groaned. Wait what?
"I wouldn't be evil if we were on the same side," said Twist offering his hand.
"Sorry pretty boy, I don't do that," she said crossing her arms.m
"To bad," he sighed. "But if you change you mind..." and with that Twist walked off.
"You can't seriously be into that guy," said Trixe when Twist was out of ear shot. "He betrayed us, he works for Blakk!"
"I'm not," said Dex shrugging. "He's not the only one who's good at misdirection."
"Pronto is confused," the mollinoid said scratching his head.
"It's called pretend," Dex said, stressing the syllables.
"You little actress you," said Kord giving her a noogie.
"Hey hey watch the hair!" Dex cried. She forced herself out of Kord's arms and tried to brush her hair down.
"So Eli ready to loose?" Twist asked coming up to them.
"Hey pretty boy," Dex called. "He's not the only one racing."
"Is that supposed to impress," said Twist laughing.
"Nah, more like to warn you. I tend to play a little rough." Dex was getting up in his face and I could feel a fight coming on.
"Dex the race is about to start," I said grabbing her arm and pulling her away.
"You need to chill. If it helps you might want to stop the flirting," I whispered as we got on our bikes.
"It's called up handling your opponent," she said and revved her engine.
"Racers ready," the ref shouted.
"See you at the finish line babe," said Twist pulling up.
"Start your engines, GO!" The ref shot the flare and we all took off.
(Dex's POV)
The flare was shot and we all sped forward. Twist took an early lead. No thanks to the upgrades Blakk probably got for him. Racers were already dropping out as they crashed into each other. The good thing about leopards is that they are great jumpers and amazing climbers. I was able to dodge most of the blows sent my way while Eli seemed all for the pushing and shoving. He just knocked a snake out of the race before I managed to catch up with him.
"Hello hello," I said pulling up beside him. "And you said you'd be a challenge."
"Well I don't knock out teammates," he said shrugging.
"Well I do," I said before ramming Saber into his Mecha.
"Woah," Eli exclaimed as he nearly went over the edge of the canyon. "So that's how you want to play?" He turned his Mecha to ram into mine but Saber jumped over him, causing him to hit the rock wall next to us. Suddenly the Cliffside we were racing on began to crumble. Saber tripped and we both began to fall. Eli reached out a hand but it was too late. My hands slipped from Saber and I began to fall. The canyon top got farther and farther away until, lights out.
(Eli's POV)
"Bye bye," and with that I sped up passing him and coming in close to Twist. Ugh that guy thinks he's so slick. Hmmph.
"Hey pretty boy," I said coming up beside him.
"Hey yourself babe," he replied smirking. "So what do you say after I beat Shane boy you and me go out and grab a bite?" he asked. Is this guy seriously asking me on a date? Eww.
"I'd love to but I kinda got a race to win," I said before blowing him a kiss and passing him.
(Eli's POV)
Aw man Twist's face when Dex passed him was awesome. I could have done without the whole kiss thing but it was defiantly funny.
"You just got stood up," I said to him as I passed him. I finally caught up to Dex and she looked like she was trying not to laugh.
"I got to say, you're good," I said pulling in along side her.
"You should see me when I'm trying," she replied smirking.
"I'd like that," I replied with an honest smile. Her smirk faltered and she turned to me in shock. I saluted her before turning my Mecha to dodge a rock pillar she had failed to notice. I looked back to see her turn around and try to turn but she crashed into the side, slowing her down enough for Twist to pass her.
"You're going down Eli," he yelled pulling up to me.
"Not a chance," I said before pulling ahead just enough and slamming into his Mecha. The positioning caused his Mecha to spin out of control just enough for me to cross the finish line first. Twist came barreling down right after me followed by Dex then the other racers.
"Winner Eli Shane," the ref called out and the crowd applauded.
"WHOO HOO!" I yelled jumping of Lucky. The team cam down from the stands and congratulated me. Then I got tackled from behind.
"Great job Eli," said Dex giving me a hug from behind. "Next time I won't go easy on you," looking up at me. She gave me a slight punch in the arm before going to tend to her Mecha.
"Nice try babe," I heard and I turned around to see Twist with his arm over Dex's shoulder. Why that little... "Now about that date."
"Twist," Dex sighed leaning into him. What is she doing?! "Not even if you payed me." Twist looked to her and she smiled before grabbing his arm and throwing him over her shoulder and onto the ground. "Why don't you run along back to Blakk pretty boy," she said letting him go and crossing her arms.
"You'll pay for that," Twost growled getting up and aiming a blaster at her.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you," I said walking over to put a arm across Dex's shoulders. Then Dex and I used our other hands to bring out our blasters and Twist turned around to see the rest of the team aiming at him as well.
"I'll get you next time Eli Shane," said Twist. "Maybe next time babe," he said to Dex and winked at her before firing Loki at his feet and disappearing.
"Does this guy not take a hint," Dex exclaimed breaking my hold. My side suddenly felt cold.
"Congrats again," said Dex turning towards me again.
"Thanks," I said as we boarded our Mechas and ran back towards the house. Tomorrow we attack Blakk's factory.
